Adult theaters like the one Paul Rubens was arrested in, EXIST for masturbation, most of them also have people having gay sex and everyone going there knows it. One of the classic 'double talk' true facts like how rave posters always said "no drugs allowed" on the bottom. Similar to when George Michael was arrested for cruising in a bathroom well known to be a gay pickup spot, after being entrapped by an undercover police officer. Eddie Murphy's career tanked after he was filmed talking to a transsexual sex worker, something that shouldn't even be illegal. Yet we never hear about the thousands of celebrities who go to the 'champagne room' of strip clubs. It's clear that what the tabloids and mobs get up in arms about is the shaming of homosexual, transsexual, and kinky behavior, not of heterosexual sex work. Danny Bonaduce beat the shit out of a trans sex worker, bragged about it on TV and his charges were dropped, though his career had peaked long before that. In the 90s, it was more socially acceptable to murder a gay or trans person than to have sex with one in public, or pay them for the privilege. Not that this applies to the Armie Hammer case, but I do think that people confuse their disgust reaction to 'degenerate' sex, with moral outrage like that felt by the #MeToo cases. I'm personally nauseated by the idea of two consenting adults giving each other Cleveland Steamers but to assume that this means that eating poop makes someone immoral, that this is a form of abuse, that they deserve to be jailed or have their career taken away on top of the punishment that comes from being publically humiliated (though some people find that kinky too) is retrograde af. Don't yuck my yum, I won't yuck yours. Potentially coercive and pressuring to his ex girlfriends to participate in a kink that the were lukewarm about? Yeah, but coercion is what separates seduction from flirting, it's been considered a legitimate part of romance up until the last few decades and while I think society is right to move away from that, we are nowhere near universally condemning everyone who puts pressure on their partners for something.
