Great episode. Hypothetically, What are your thoughts on allowing high risk clients to text before self harming behavior or relapsing on drugs ? With the understanding that they may not be replied to for up to 24 hrs, not during evening time, and that I am not a crisis support. (Client provides with emergency hotlines).Particularly if the client travels out of state or country often, and I am limited how often I can provide therapy by state lines.

Crisis plans need to involve proper support in the moment. It's generally okay to include the therapist in the crisis plan as long as there is a more immediate option also on the plan. I don't let my supervisees put themselves on the plan though.
