Yeah, making sure that everyone understands one's martyr status can be a coping strategy for people suffering from narcissism or histrionic. It gains attention, focuses attention, builds esteem, etc. But it also pushes people away because people often detect it.

Thank you for pointing out some things that can be seen from both narcissism and ADHD. Sometimes these conditions can be confused for each other, or I think he co-occurring. Would you consider doing a podcast on the similarities but different drivers Kirk? I am here because of my ex, I would like to have a real understanding. He and I both have ADHD. I cut him a lot of slack for things that I now don’t think we’re ADHD. I’d love to know more about how to differentiate, as in many ways dating another ADHDer seemed good, and I’d also like to understand how my ADHD traits could be seen as narcissistic.
