Content

Hello! I just wanted to write a quick note to say thank you for your patience and support. I know I said last month would be a bit slow as I was trying to balance my mental health with providing updates, and I really appreciate that everyone has been so understanding.

I don't want to promise '[x] amount of updates' this month, but I do hope I can provide content that people will enjoy. As always, I'm open to feedback, suggestions, etc, so if there's something you're particularly interested in seeing, feel free to leave comments, send me messages, etc.

I recently asked a poll question about how I deliver content - new posts for every update vs single posts that get updated over time. The results skewed more towards the "single post" style, so I've decided to give that style a try and see how it goes.  If you voted for the first style in the poll, I hope you're not disappointed! There may be a few speedbumps along the way, but my first priority is making sure that I can deliver content to patrons easily and efficiently, so I'll be paying close attention to feedback about how it's going.

I have another question which I'm putting to a poll - about Project Rene, the upcoming Sims spin-off/sequel. I'm mostly curious about how people feel about Rene/TS4 as it relates to my content. If you played Rene and enjoyed it, would you want Simdulgence content (provided it's possible)? Would you still play TS4 and want me to continue creating content for it even if its official development cycle stopped and no more packs were made? Are you thinking something else completely and want to share in the comments?

This isn't going to change anything about the content I'm creating now, and it's probably still too early for most of us to have strong opinions about it (and they could change as it gets closer to its eventual release), but I'm just curious to hear others' thoughts!

Thanks as always,
Simdulgence

Good to have you back Simdulgence! Just curious if you have any plans to update your SimplePiercings mod. Doesn’t seem to be working correctly right now for some reason.

simdulgence

Hi! I've had some conflicting feedback about whether the mod works or not, so I wasn't sure if it was a problem or not. I'll do some testing on my side, and if I find that the piercings mod isn't working for me either, I'll try to find a solution. Unfortunately, it probably won't be as sophisticated because I'm not a script modder (the most recent version which uses a script was authored for me), so it may not be just a simple update. I may have to find another method for the piercings entirely which doesn't rely on scripts. I'll look into it!

I just want to tell you that your mods have become an indispensable part of my game. I am very happy to meet a mods producer like you. I will support you anyway.

Add Life by You to the list too!

simdulgence

I thought about it! I'm definitely keeping an eye on the game, to see how it turns out and whether it's of interest to me, but it's hard to say this early in its development cycle just how easy it will be to mod/whether I like the game. But I'm sure I remember reading that the developers want to make the game moddable and that they aren't necessarily closed to 18+ mods, so that's a big plus!

Phil G

Good that you're keeping your eye on it. Mods are definitely on the cards - "Yes! Life by You is aiming to be one of the most moddable and open life-sims."

Hello and thank you for the survey and your interest in our opinion. :) I'm sure...Project Rene definitely not, because I don't support EA's system and Sims 4 is definitely my last Sims. But I don't want Sims 4 content "forever" either... the constant updating gets annoying at some point. Of course it can continue for a good while, but not forever. :D

I'd love content for Life By You when it releases!

simdulgence

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about EA, and totally understand why other players might have issues with them too! Re: TS4 content, I know some people have concerns about continuing to add packs and how that impacts game performance (as well as some players who just want the game's dev cycle to end, period). Personally I'm still hoping for a few specific things to be added to the game lol

simdulgence

I'm super interested to see how the game develops! Right now it has some promise because there are things about it that I prefer to TS4, but I really need the world to feel more alive and for the gameplay to be fun and interesting. Beyond that, I also hope that they improve the graphics, both of objects (like furniture) and of the humans themselves. I was thinking about picking it up in early access, but since that was pushed back I'm just keeping an eye on their dev videos and trying to see how things change and improve. If I really fell in love with the game, I could maybe see myself making some content, but it's hard to tell for sure right now.

Sims5 I think may not premiere til 2025, that is my guess. And with it being multi-player, I don't know how CC will work. Just because I use CC, will other players be able to see it? That creates problems for adult content too. There are still underage players in the Sims Community, i don't want them to see my sims walking around naked. I think it will be a bigger challenge modding Sims5. Sims2&3 are still accessible through Origin/EA if you bought the packs before the cutoff date, my point is I believe Sims4 will be playable for a long time and will overlap with Sims5, at least in the beginning. I think YOU should create content for the games you play. If you still enjoy Sims4, then keep making stuffs, we ofcourse will eat it up.

simdulgence

I have no idea how TS5 (or whatever it's called) will handle CC. I get the feeling that somehow Maxis/EA will try and monetize CC - I can't say exactly how it would work, it's just the impression I get from everything they've done with the Curseforge stuff. I think they would love to have an official marketplace where they get a share of revenue, but the items on the marketplace are created by modders and they don't have to do all the work. Of course, maybe that's just my cynical brain talking, and I could be completely wrong! Only time will tell lol Anyway, yes, I will continue to create for games that I'm passionate about. I have no idea yet if that will include whatever Sims 5 turns out to be, but I'm certainly open to it. But although the lure of a new game is there (better engine? fixed mistakes from TS4's limitations?), it's hard to imagine jumping ship right away. I think TS4 will still prove popular for a while after TS5 eventually launches.

I don't really think about Project Rene since I don't know yet what it's actually going to be like (or when it's likely to be released) and they have said they will be making content for Sims 4 for "years". So I don't really think about it all . I love playing the Sims 4 as a mature game now and I have a lot invested at this point.
