Hello! ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ )

Since my last sketchbook post in 2020, I've taken the time to learn a lot of Clip Studio Paint's basic tools and functions. My familiarity and comfort with the program has grown noticeably and it's made the actual motion of drawing much more enjoyable. I was fighting with the default settings for so long until it occurred to me that tools should feel good to use and aid you in making art, not constantly get in your way or frustrate you. I'm still regularly tweaking my settings and am perpetually #realizing that that's The Lesson: the way you approach creativity and expression is always changing, allow your tools to change and evolve with you. On a less reflective note, I also learned that CSP is compatible with Photoshop brush files and have gone hog wild downloading and testing out various brush packs. There are a ton of free and massive brush packs on deviantart that are a ton of fun to play with. One of my favorite ways to loosen up is to pick random brushes that I never use and sketch with them. It forces me to think in new ways and experiment, great for freshening up a routine that has gotten stale.

I still love drawing cute fashionable ladies, cats, and fanart despite the time and changes that have passed. If anything, I'm finding new ways to interpret these subjects in ways that make sense to my current self. Like one of those 'draw this again, but years later' challenges. The interest is still there, but presented in a new way that reflects all the little things and experiences you've picked up along the way. I love seeing that evolution in other artists' work, so it's been fun to notice it in my own!

Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have a nice day and weekend!
