Hello loves! ^o^/

Hope your week is going well so far~ I'm super excited to share this month's postcard with you because I really enjoyed working on it. The process of this piece felt wonderfully organic (aren't those moments great when things just seem to fall into place?) since I got to play with some of my favorite color combinations and subject matter.

I've been waking up earlier and earlier recently and have had the opportunity to watch several sunrises. It's such a beautiful time of day, the cool morning air is still and everything is quiet. It feels so calming, yet full of possibility at the same time. I wanted to capture a bit of that moment in this piece and pay tribute to the beautiful colors that spread across the morning sky. I think in my heart of hearts the colors of the sky will always stir something deep within me that is wrought with emotion.

I'm also learning to let go of chasing perfection in my work and to trust the process instead. I've felt so caught up in focusing on the final picture that I haven't really allowed myself to explore creativity and welcome happy accidents. Giving a piece room to develop naturally feels so much better than controlling every step of the process and holding myself to impossible standards. To me, it feels more refreshing and genuine to approach art in this way. :-)

Oh yeah, here's the process gif for this piece! I had a lot of fun playing around with layer effects (mostly overlay) to give this piece the glow and dream-like look I wanted.

If you'd like a Patreon-exclusive postcard print of this piece, make sure to change your pledge to $10 before the end of February! <3

I hope you like this piece! Thank you so much for your support this month and to close out this post here's a quote I've found particularly relevant recently:

"If "getting it done" is the only thing you're focused on, you are missing out on some of the best parts of being creative. " -Solange Knowles

And with that, have a lovely rest of your week and see you in the next post! ^-^/<3
