Hi everyone!

Happy Monday to you all~ So, I recently watched Wonder Woman and I was...for lack of better words completely blown away. I didn't walk into the theater with much expectations, good or bad. I'm not particularly interested in the DC universe or comic books so I had very little background of Wonder Woman as a character as well as what she stood for. I had asked on Twitter whether or not I should give it a chance and the answers were overwhelmingly YES. So, I went. And I'm so glad I did.

Without spoiling anything from the movie, this entire film's premise center's around the strength of women and what it means to be a hero. Whether or not that could have been executed better is always debatable, but I found myself incredibly moved by the imagery that this movie had to offer. I think the fact that it was directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins) really helped reshape the interpretation of female superheroes. I'll admit, I was crying approximately half of the time I watched this movie, because I was so shaken by the focus on powerful women. Women fighting, women in positions of power, women refusing to be shut down, all of this really resonated with me. I've never seen anything come close to this in any other superhero movie. In those movies, women are side characters, love interests, or belittled and disregarded. But Wonder Woman showed how females are strong and capable and full of depth, complexity, and endless courage to fight for what they believe in. Most importantly, it shows women as people.

I walked into the movie theater with no expectations and walked out inspired and empowered. If it isn't clear, I highly recommend you watch this movie if you're interested. I have many more ideas from the movie that I want to illustrate so keep an eye out for that! I admire Wonder Woman's strength, tenacity, and humanity and feel deeply motivated to do more and do better by her example.

Thank you all so much for your support, have a wonderful rest of your day! In the meantime, I'll be over here, drawing Wonder Woman because I literally cannot stop myself

Love,

Vicki
