Hey Friends,

You all have supported me over the years and I really appreciate it. This year is a big focus point for me. To buckle down and expand the Youtube channel, the Patreon and more.

Towards that point, I want to suggest some ideas of new perks for the Patreon and get your thoughts on it. What you would like and what you think would convince other people to sign on.

I like the weekly rants/reviews idea. I know you've done similar videos in the past but as part of it maybe talk about what's on your pull list for the week and a quick thumbs up thumbs down for recent issues you've read. Also if you had the time maybe do a monthly or bi monthly q&a video but pull the questions from the Patreon? Just some thoughts, have a great day :)

Personally I miss your old comic book videos, the rundown of your weekly pull's thoughts, recommends, and passes. You have stopped doing those, and I did not know if that was because of your new gig or time (I asked via Patreon, but never heard back). The other ones were "Jason Read's Comics" where you rated the best "x" for the year. Looking purely mathematically at the view counts (and I mean very cursory checking) they have, far and away the highest views over 10k most of the time, I also enjoyed them because it turned me onto artists, runs, comics, and writers that I previously had never heard of. If not for finding those videos years ago I would not have found my way to GHL and so on. Additionally, I always thought that it might be interesting to have a series where someone picks a writer, artist, etc.. and discusses why they like them with examples and why, possibly contrasting earlier work of theirs. Example: I love J.H. Williams III's art with the fiery passion equivalent to 1% of The Sentry's total power. Then if I were doing a video on it I would likely use examples with something like issue 1 of Sandman Overture and use a small sample of the art in the video describing what I like about it and why. I mean besides the fact that his panel layout is simultaneously odd as shit and eerily beautiful. Or talk about how the art style is has some way of being ugly'ish off-putting and mind-fuckingly awesome, his whole work has an awesome duality to it, and pairs up with Gaiman like butter and sweet corn on the cob (I'm from Iowa fuck that PB&J analogy) You and Ashley often debate many things that you see differently, but looking at a writer or artist you love, and why, with examples, explaining what within those works of art and pages makes your brain leak endorphin's, or your heart swell, a review like this can serve many purposes and can't really be contested by anyone else, because it's your opinion, personal tastes, a window however slight into your mind. It's just a thought. I can list many comics I have read because of your videos, some so-so, some great, and some holy fuck awesome, I have a small circle of YouTubers I have come to rely on for comics recommendations, thoughts, and reviews, and they are mostly all in your circle, jawiin, comicpop!, comics explained, comicstorian, collider and until about a 6-12 months ago cbg19.. (yes I like adjectives and I can randomly move topics, I blame comics and adhd for this)

Mike- Thanks for liking those old comic reviews. But I doubt they will ever come back. They only have 10000 views now because they've been up for over three years. At the time, they barely crossed 1000 in a week. A LOT of work for very little return. And focusing videos only on certain writers would be interesting but not very clickable unless you already know that writer. Thanks for the suggestion and just wanted to write you back.
