TFP robots are super super hard to get right with one sketch. I had especially difficult time with Shockwave's gun. So I scribbled some things and called it a day.

But then polishing it, it wasn't so hard since I got the overall shape. And I used my handy TFP art book to help me out with the details.

I worked layer by layer to flesh out the lines. And instead of using the eraser I used white to go over it in another layer. Then I merged it all and saved it.

This is where the coloring comes in. With the valentine's commissions I like to give them a pink tint. So I worked with soundwave first eye picking pink hues. He's 4 tones so I kept it at that.

I used Soundwave's tones to color shockwave at first, but Shockwave had another tone to him. 5 total. So once I layed down some colors (based upon value) I shifted the color to be more purple and continued coloring.

Besides, having Shockwave more purple allowed to distinguish the two robots. When I did color Shockwave with Soundwave's colors, everything kind of blended and I really didn't like that.

The trick to doing these pink themed drawings is understanding value.

I didn't bother with coloring the picture in black in white at first because it would be too bothersome to work the coloring later. So I skipped the middle man and used the color instead.

Plus it wasn't so hard because instead of black and white, I just used pink and lighter/darker pink. Sticking to one color is rather easy and nice.

bonus: Soundwave's design has Lazerbeak on him (on his chest) but for this I took Lazerbeak off. (so they can hug closer.)
