This pose was a little hard since my reference picture was:

I tried to copy the pose directly:

It was unsuccessful because I was having a really hard time copying from the image. Since these gems aren't normal proportions. So instead I took the basic motion and pose to sketch it with normal proportions

^^ So the basic pose I drew and I was happy with it. so with another layer on top I cleaned it up and figured out proportions and perspective.

^^ this allows me to figure out where the limbs go. You can see the legs were redrawn because they were a bit off length.

^^ With the base figured out, I'm able to draw the robots parts, albeit a little rough. This is the "sketch" I gave to the commissioner because it's the cleanest. (I took off the guides below) As I went drawing the picture I cleaned up the lineart slowly.

^^ very clean!!

^^ With robots, to make sure the colors aren't going to get muddy or confused, I put bunches of colors onto different layers. Since these robots are fairly simple with colors, I made two different layers for each robot.

^^ And again with a layer on top (but below the lineart) I give it shading. This one I did with a multiplied layer, the multiplied layer allows for the shading to go over the colors.
I have the pink robot a purple shading, while I gave the black robot orange shading. The purple wouldn't show very well on the black of the robot. Plus it didn't work very well with the color theme of that robot.

At this point it's all about polishing!! Because it's me, I keep putting a new layer on top, color pick, and paint on top!!
