Ezra's journey as a jedi is quite complex. In which ull definitely appreciate.

As some of the other patrons have pointed out, this show does not have as many "filler" episodes as you may think. Sure, some episodes may feel like it when watching, but I promise most of those episodes come back into play in the overarching story in some way. Even the ones you would never expect. Anyways, I'm glad to see you guys are enjoying the journey of 'Rebels' so far. EDIT: I should also note that even the episodes people consider "filler" have character development that is essential to understanding character motivations moving forward. Because of that, I would say that almost every episode, if not every episode, is important in some way, shape, or form even if it is not immediately apparent.

fun fact: in episode 7, the republic base that sabine and hera go to is the same as the one that appeared in the first episode of the bad batch arc from clone wars s7

It's funny that you mention how much better the Grand Inquisitor looks in Rebels than in Obi-Wan. There was so much backlash due to it lol. His pauldrons and his chest plate were too long/big and his head wasn't long enough in Obi-Wan. People tried to say that it's because Rebels was more stylized but in reality the Pau'an's (his race) were introduced in Revenge of the Sith on Utapau with long heads. It is what it is at this point but I feel like it sucks that the Grand Inquisitor is such a threat in this show but in Obi-Wan he's just a wasted character. He's about that action in this show, in Obi-wan he just lectures everyone and gets stabbed lmao, smh.

Ok, R2 is sassy, Chopper is just a dick.

As someone who was and still is a big fan of 'Obi-Wan Kenobi,' I think the show's biggest weakness lies with the small budget that was given to the creators. This can, as you mentioned, be seen with how the Grand Inquisitor was designed. While I don't think his look is terrible like some people believe, there is no doubt in my mind that it could have been much better. Personally, I think they should have either made him have a bigger role in the show, or just not had him involved at all. His inclusion, to me, felt kind of forced. Hopefully, if we see him in live-action again, they update his design like they are doing for Ahsoka in her upcoming show. For those that don't know, her montrals and lekku are going to be slightly longer.

It’s mindboggling that Kenobi’s budget would have been limited in any way, given the marquee. Andor, with a comparatively less known title and lead, looks a thousand times better. BOBF similarly felt rushed and budget capped Maybe the pandemic screwed up production but its very evident between the three post-Mando shows which was the best produced

Holden hit the nail on the head: 1) Each Rebels season is MUCH more cohesive than any clone wars season, except maybe 5. Part of that is the anthology nature of CW, but there was alot of jumping around the galaxy from arc to arc. Rebels follows one crew, and tho each member/pairing gets focus at diff times, the seasons each drive the crew toward a particular point. In this respect, each rebels season tells a more complete “story” 2) we are very much meeting at ground floor for each character. Theyre all flawrd in some way, their histories are only being revealed bit by bit. Theyre basically all season 1 Ahsoka, and you can bet we’re gonna watch as each one grows and develops 3) the plot points being dropped even in “filler” episodes rarely get dropped. The sabine’s distrust, fulcrum’s role, ezra’s fear for his parents, the chopper reign of terror, hera’s pride in her piloting skills are all gonna be addressed, amongst other stuff 4) kenobi fumbled the Inquisitor. There may be reasons behind the scenes but….yeah he looks terrifying here and like a poor cosplay in kenobi. Didnt help they did nonstop death fakeouts and punked him in live action. In Rebels, he wrecks 5) filoni’s analogy was that r2 is the family dog, chopper is the family cat. You’ll see thats putting it lightly

Jacob Ember

@Jonathan Ma My guess is that the pandemic caused some troubles in production; however, it should also be noted that season one of 'Andor' was being filmed at around the same time as 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' so the truth of the matter is really up in the air as far as the public knows. As for the lower budget, my guess is that Lucasfilm thought that they could get away with less money being put into the project since it was bringing back fan-favorite characters, and they knew that people would watch the show regardless of the quality. Whereas when you look at 'Andor,' because the title character is less well-known, they probably figured that they had to make sure the quality of the show was extra good so that people wouldn't write off the show right away. Unfortunately, that has not stopped some people from giving up on 'Andor,' but trust me when I say that it could be a lot worse. Overall, it's a shame that 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' was not given the same time and budget that was given to 'Andor.' Don't get me wrong, I love 'Andor,' and I cannot wait for the season finale next week, but man do I wish Kenobi's show got the same treatment.

Vosru

I was disappointed by how dirty they did the Grand Inquisitor in Kenobi.

Jonathan Ma

Production budget is only part of the difference between Andor and BOBF/Kenobi, which I’m lumping together. Andor has a clarity of purpose and you feel the care in every single line of dialogue, every camera shot, every story beat. It’s just a tight production on every level. BOBF/Kenobi has issues from the decision making at the top (Episode length, reva living, using flashbacks in bobf, putting the Grogu and mando stuff in at all) to frequent “how did this get past the first edit”? Moments like that stupid spinning shot. Andor feels like it was made by professionals, adults; the others feel amateurish, and they had Favreau, Rodriguez, and chow at the helm. They should be better than we got

Jacob Ember

I get what you're saying. My personal biggest gripe with 'The Book of Boba Fett' was honestly the Mando and Grogu stuff. I loved all of it so much that it made me realize how little I cared about what was happening with Boba and his story. I think Boba is a very fascinating character, I just don't think the right story was crafted for him. You could clearly tell that Favreau and Filoni were treating the show as if it was Mando season 2.5, which I think was a mistake. As for Obi-Wan's show, I definitely thought it was more cohesive, but yeah, I do agree that there were definitely some weird decisions made when it came to the story. At this point, I'm still not sure what would have helped the show more: making it longer (more episodes) or making it shorter (turning it into a movie). What I do know is that the six/seven episode format doesn't work for Marvel and it certainly doesn't work for Star Wars. I think at the bare minimum, we should at least be getting eight episodes per season for each show. Also, I would like for the runtimes to be more consistent. 'Andor' has done a really good job at keeping the episodes around the 45-50 minute mark, something that not even 'The Mandalorian' has been able to do. Although I will say, when it comes to Mando's show, the pacing for most of the episodes, in my opinion, are really good so it's not as big of an issue.

Jonathan Ma

Most frustratingly, i think there IS a good show from the original concept of Boba as mob boss. We just…didnt get a mob boss story, it was buried under the Tusken stuff (was good at times!) and Mando

So Uncivilized

Agreed. They should've just cast Jason Isaacs.(his voice actor). That way at least they are honoring the voice and gravitas of the character.

Lisa Leyendekker

The base was the same base Anakin and Rex were on when they met the bad batch. It's interesting to see it 15 years later. Ezra is technically one or two days older than Luke and Leia, which is also interesting.

Jacob Chavis

The big takeaways from all of the rebels seasons are the Jedi / lightsaber related stuff, reminds me a lot of fallen order in terms of growth and lack of full masters

Darth Mornabin

I like Holdens new thumbnail pose!

neutchain

The power level in the season here is really low in terms of the Jedi/Sith character. I will not spoil everything but neither Kanan nor the Inquisitor comes anywhere close to to a Jedi Knight that was raised during the clone wars, let alone masters. Ahsoka for example is orders of magnitudes above the level of the Inquisitor. She fought Maul and held herself admirably, even managed to capture him at the end, the Inquisitor could not hold a candle to Maul or Ahsoka. They are good to terrorize barely trained padawans in hiding but they are really fall short of any properly trained Force user. Stakes will be much higher in later seasons .

Fletch

Inquisitors hunt the small fries and sniff around for traces of seasoned jedi who Vader sees to personally. The Vader comics touch on this quite a bit.
