The original attack on Caprica was intended to be an allegory for 9/11. Roslin responded much like George Bush, limiting people’s freedoms, spying, torture. And now we’re at the Iraq War, with the Cylons now acting as the Americans, seeing themselves as the liberators and the humans resisting as insurgents, (like the Iraqis). It’s a fascinating flip that we are now identifying with the “Iraqis”, rather than the “Americans”.

I love the political themes in this show - they literally had a UN security council session with the cast and writers to discuss the real world relevance of themes of the show.
