Brace here...writing to let you know that there is no new episode today. Classic "my bad" moment except the truth is, my wonderful cohost--the almost always indomitable Liz Franczak--has been stricken with a crazy ass sore throat and is unable to speak.

Speaking is, to me, a hugely important part of the podcast experience. Without voice, there is no sound. Do you want to hear her rasping back and forth to my nasally exhortations? Do you want me to say "I'm gonna be fully real" with you 500 more times to someone who becomes more ill each time she tries to speak? Of course not.

To be fully real I am absolutely loving the underline and bold italic combo. It makes me feel like I'm writing a fundraising email for Nancy Pelosi.

The Death Ship by B. Traven. Great book great writer. I want to read his jungle novels next. I am now reading a book by Judy Stone about his life. Speaking of German novelists, I'm still trying to work my way through every book Heinrich Bolle ever wrote but the guy wrote too damn many I think. Crazy good chance I'm gonna tap out soon...I like the guy but he wrote a lot of fucking books. Funny guy! Good sense of humor. Maybe it has something to do with being drafted into  the Waffen damn SS or whatever when they were teenagers but some Germans possess a really genuinely funny ironical sense of humor.

speaking of Britain (rough segue) A Very British Coup  is a fun watch :)

You can do burpees in public cause they are funny to watch people do.

I have been listening to this song a lot. Plus that lady Molly Lewis who can whistle really crazy and the Bob Seger Sound System LP. Ramblin Gamblin Man. Great record.

I guess I don't actually have anything to recommend. Sort of just trying to fill space cause I feel bad we didn't have an episode today. I went to the cloisters earlier. some crazy Jesus Christs they got up there. Hope your weekend was good. New episode later this week back to regular schedule. Stupid ass email.
