Fan-favorite Tom Fowler returns to update us on Britain’s undercover policing inquiry. Since 1968, the Special Demonstration Squad (SDS) and the National Public Order Intelligence Unit (NOPIU) targeted over one thousand political campaigns and activist groups, with undercover officers tasked with abusing and manipulating members of the public all in the name of undermining political participation.

You can check out more from Tom’s work at spycops.info, where he has been detailing the national inquiry into the SDS’ activities, the lives that were forever altered and details on just who these officers were and how they operated.

I am here for the intros.

Tom

Interview starts at 12:40. The preliminary comedic stylings are better than last ep but still just mildly witty. Nothing truly revolting like last ep. But first, Brace is a dumdum. You don't go to the symphony to listen to the Nuckcracker. You go to the opera. Completely different kind of auditorium. Second, I can't skip over the orchestra tuning at the symphony. But we can skip ahead in a podcast. Third, sure, you do what you want in your podcast. Ofc. I'm just trying to help people get to the good stuff if they so choose. Fourth, "get your own podcast" says Liz, eh? I did. It's awesome. People should check it out. Not you two though. You're not cool enough :p

Tom

That's right. That's what makes your scenario that imagines me harassing orchestral musicians for tuning up instead of playing The Nutcracker at The Symphony so silly.

Tom

I'm here for the comments. The comedy, such as it is, is in the podcasts.

justDave

No, it's a children's book that got turned into music, that got turned into a ballet, that got turned into an opera, why is everyone so smuggly superior these days?

justDave

I think Tchaikovsky wrote something about the vitriol and bullshit in the hearts of those trying to become or maintain their fame- he hated the nutcracker, said it was just more fuel for the fire or some shit

Benjamin Littell

The sexual tension between Brace and Liz is so weird. It’s simultaneously the most platonic and the most flirtatious relationship I’ve ever seen between a man and woman.
