The real mystery is how to pronounce de monthrischildt

Michael S. Judge

Angleton was bothering Pound, Eliot, Joyce, and William Carlos Williams for contributions to his literary magazine when he was like 17

J P 3

The "Devil's Chessboard" by David Talbot, covers some of this territory too. Great book. Very persuasive as far as Dulles is concerned. You can't ever prove this definitively -- at best it's a strong circumstantial case. But a bunch of the arrows point back in the direction of Dulles and his immediate circle.

Michael S. Judge

JFK specifically predicted to Jackie that he'd be shot during a motorcade, and Harry Truman, a month to the day after 11/22/63, published a Washington Post op ed about how the CIA was out of control and should never have been formed

Jessica S

Yippee!!

Vincent Utah

Michael, being from Mormon land, I’m genuinely curious regarding the Mormon-missionary-to-CIA-agent pipeline. After seeing how they conduct business here and elsewhere (They’re sending my brother to proselytize in fucking Africa. Apparently they’re going full blown colonialism down there.), I’ve been looking for some reading material about this. Any thoughts/recommendations?

Bong Bong

Being a JFK assassination dork and listening to TrueAnon finally tackle this topic-- which, to be fair, is daunting as fuck-- has been great! There is so much to cover still that I would recommend: the fake defection to Russia, Oswald's BFF De Mohrenschildt, the Paines, Guy Banister and 544 Camp Street, all the ballistic and forensic wackiness, the Secret Service.... I'll stop there. A really good book I would recommend to any and all on the subject is by Alex Cox-- the director of Repo Man-- and is called "The President and the Provocateur." Great show!

Jark

an acronym I previously thought stood for just fuckin kiddin

What was the funny Kim Philby story!?

Christian Kaiser

lol Liechtenstein was neutral but they did hide 200 White Russian troops from the red army at the end of the war

Jonathan Smith

hit me up when y’all visit nola, we can eat oyster poboys and blast cigs at 544 Camp Street. then we can visit the Schlumberger warehouse in Houma where the CIA was storing munitions for Operation Mongoose shit.

Gavin Farrell

Additional book recommendations: "The Jakarta Method" and "The Wretched of the Earth".

Roger Peet

Cuban exile pilots also formed the main body of the CIA's air-force in Congo during the installation of Mobutu and the war against the Simbas. One of them commented that flying T-28s over eastern Congo was "more exciting than parking cars in Miami"

You can lead a housetrotter to water but you can’t make him drink

Kasz

That's saying something because they have cool cars in Miami

hanfjob

keep doing history :)

malpertuis

My dad told me I wouldn't exist if there had been no operation Ajax.

Shivvy

“this is your other Uncle” best cold open

Gabo Goff

what’s the deal with how Oswald tried to kill that other general

Carine

Props for bringing up the best thing Trump has ever said - his pithy dismissal of the psychopathic John McCain

Wesley Hrubes

RFK spent the day at Frankenheimer's Malibu home and was driven to the Ambassador Hotel by him on the day he was assasinated

Dang, B. The more I learn, the sadder I get.

Jake

Dulles and Reagan are now remembered mostly just by people who like to talk about airports so fuck them they’re in hell.

Love this series. Has anyone read American Tabloid by James Ellroy?

Broadway Joe

I bet the lack of POW/MIA flags is a Bay area thing. I just drove from Ohio to Virginia and saw at least one in every town.

Sebastian Lomaglio

The POW flags are absolutely everywhere! I lived in Indiana for almost 7 years and even people had them on their houses! They are everywhere as well as the US flag and the stickers of military branches. It is sometimes funny to see the immense disconnect that big city Americans have compared to midwest/ southern US reality is.

John T. Martin film👁👁

Dan Greene

Not just midwest and south - anywhere in the US outside of urban centers. Rural Maine and eastern California alike.

Dan Greene

Yeah I've lived my whole life in the rural west and sometimes it feels like I'm from a different country than most podcasters/commentators

Joshua Baker

Hey Brace and Liz, your podcast is maybe the best leftist podcast going atm. The variety in your shows is spectacular whether the Nico interview, Brace's sharing about reform boarding schools, or the JFK series now. Recently I got one of my close friends into the podcast via a Stitcher Premium subscription I gave him for his birthday. He's really enjoying the show, but...he doesn't get access to all the eps!!! Why are all eps not on Stitcher Premium? I got him Stitcher so he could get access to Blowback, Chapo, and of course and most important, TrueAnon. What gives? Can you do me a solid and get all eps on Stitcher? Ep 2 of JFK is particularly cruel in this case and people are paying for this content!

Charlie

around 25:00 this sounds a lot like the concept of The Power Elite by C. Wright Mills

This was orig. posted on Ep.#1. LIZ & BRACE: Compare & contrast Allen Dulles, OSS and Paul Myron Anthony Linebarger, OSS. 1w surrander 2000 P.M.A. Linebarger's Godfather (literal, church Godfather) was Sun Yat Sen. You will find his career, his writings on psychological warfare as well as his work published under various pseudonyms and his engagement with JFK, fascinating. Andrew......

Sooooo glad you are aware of Paul's actual métier! As indicated, his close tie was to Dr. Sun, not MacArthur's "Shanghai Jack" ... .Paul L. was a very complicated guy, but not a patrician creep. Coachwhip Press has reissues of some of his "professional" writings, worth checking out - esp. as it makes clear how much of the nuts-and-bolts work of creating OSS was actually P.M.A.L's output. aw

When are they going to do a covid conspiracy episode.. too soon? There’s no way there isn’t some weird stuff behind what’s going on .

Phelan Deimos

My conspiratorial mind might think Stitcher bundles are what bad actors would use to review material while Patreon are the real fans. I could see keeping my riskiest stuff away from what most journos and intel bros would use. Even setting my fevered scenario aside (i literally have a fever and am not to be trusted), they probably don't make squat compared to Patreon. I don't know, lots of potential reasons and they should do whatever they want.

Anneliese

revisiting these episodes and i just took a deep dive into James angleton's daughter and son and they're in the Yogi Bhajan Kundalini yoga cult 😭 currently stalking all of them on Instagram
