Honestly, its always struck me as an opportunistic defense of their jack off habits when lots of leftists (or, let's be honest, liberals) fall back on the whole "defense of sex workers" thing when you criticize porn. Yeah, stigmatizing the profession can have negative effects, etc., but nobody seems to raise that point when you shit on, say, journalists. Weird!

Porn is a luxury, not a basic necessity. I’m not a leftist because “I love free shit”, I’m a leftist because I recognize that all humans are entitled to a strong community, good nutrition, full healthcare, good housing, access to clean water, freedom from oppression, and overall unbarred access to vital needs. Porn is not a vital need, if someone is selling their porn you are morally required to pay them for it, just like you would for any other luxury like movies or video games or pedicures or whatever.

gotta respectfully disagree about any of the chapo subs. meme game weak as hell. i think the problem with the chapo sub is the sorting function. "having correct politics" is always prioritized over actually being funny. r/me_irl memes have to be funny before most anything else. memes for memes, as they say.

He fought in Syria against ISIS, went to rehab for heroin, visited Cuba, and helped to lead one of the largest unionisation pushes of the decade. I’m listening through episodes for the first time. The porn conversation, even since then, has changed quite a bit (y’all were right about everything though) with pornhub removing all non-verified videos on 12/31/2020. A step in the right direction but not all they can do, for sure. And that does nothing about other sites that haven’t followed in their footsteps.
