April Dormitory Diary Entry - Kimura (Patreon)

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I'm Kimura, a resident of the Animator Dormitory. This is my April dormitory diary entry.

Thanks to your support, I've been able to continue my work as an animator for two years now. Thank you so much! This month, I'm starting my third year. Once again, I appreciate your support 🙇

Last year, I made an effort to challenge myself. I drew caricatures at an anime event overseas, helped a grad student friend with their final project, published a book, and drew shikishi at a live event, and even though I’m still working on it, I've been working on a short film using motion capture. I’ve been able to do a lot of different things.

However, I’ve spread myself too thin, and as a result, my lack of practice and poor time management caused various issues, and I ended up inconveniencing others. I've been reflecting on that.

This year, I want to focus on the tasks at hand, making sure I complete each one to my satisfaction before moving on to the next.

I'll learn from my mistakes and aim to be the kind of worker others can depend on.

こんにちは。お世話になっております。アニメーター寮、寮生の木村です。4月の寮生日記を投稿いたします。

おかげさまで2年アニメーターを続けることが出来ました。ありがとうございます。今月から3年目です。改めてですが、よろしくお願い致します

昨年は色んなことを挑戦する年にしようと心がけていました。海外でのアニメイベントで似顔絵を描いたり、友達の大学院生の終了制作の動画を手伝ったり、本を出す経験をしたり、ライブで色紙を描いたり、まだ制作中ですがモーションキャプチャーで短い動画をつくったいたりと色々なチャレンジができました。

ただ、色々と手を出しすぎたことで、実力不足と作業を進めるペースの見積もりが上手くいかないことがたくさん起きてしまい、他方面に迷惑をかけてしまいました。反省しています。

今年度は目の前のことに集中して、一つ一つを確実に、自分の納得の行くまで進めていくいけるようにしていきたいです。

この失敗からたくさん学んで周りの人を助けられるような仕事を目指していきます。
