February Dormitory Diary Entry - Watanabe (Patreon)

Thank you very much for your support. This is Watanabe posting my dormitory diary for February.

It snowed in Tokyo the other day. I went outside with a coworker to see the snow. Unfortunately, it‘d melted and turned into rain.

At work, I primarily do in-between and clean-up animation, but recently, I've started participating in the final checking process too. I’m guessing each finished work gets checked once or twice before it goes to QA, and when my seniors check it and see my work, my heart feels like a drum I’m so nervous. However, sometimes I also take a look at THEIR work and think, "Wow, these lines are so clean. I wanna be able to draw like that." By checking other people's cuts, I can objectively view my own work and reduce small mistakes. (Of course, I think getting used to the job, in general, helps too, but.) I realized that I can also apply the same philosophy when doing QA checks. This also helps me consider what I should be looking for when performing QA, which is important.

There are a fair number of corrections that come during QA, so I know it’s gonna be a while before I’m a big-boy animator, but I’m working hard to create the best stuff I can.

2月の寮生日記を投稿します。

先日、東京では雪が降りました。朝会社に行く時に結構降っていたので、お昼休みに同期の子と雪を見に外に出たのですが雨に変わっていました。残念…。

仕事では動画と仕上をやっているのですが、時々仕上のチェックをするようになりました。(社内でチェックした後検査様にチェックしていただくのだと思います。)先輩のチェックする時はとても緊張して心臓がバクバクしてしまいます。ですが、その際に動画の線も見ることが出来るので線綺麗だなぁ、こういうふうに描けるようになりたいなぁ、と思いながらチェックしています。他人のカットをチェックすることで自分の作業を客観視出来るようになり、つまらないミスが減らせてきていると思います。（作業に慣れてきたというのもあると思いますが。）これは動画でも言えることで、どういった部分を見ているのかを考えて作業することが大切だなと感じました。

動画では修正をもらってしまう事が割とあるので、一人前の動画マンになるにはまだまだ道のりは長そうです…。良い素材が作れるよう頑張っていきたいです。
