Rodimus Prime is underrated and was given a raw deal, no one can follow Optimus. G1 series is split in half, first half pre movie second half post movie.

Some fun facts: - This was Optimus' death for a long while. Similar to when they killed Superman in the comics. They only brought him back due to fan demand. But it's known as the character death that scarred a generation of kids, fitting I'd say, it's not often that long time Heroes are killed off. - Unicron here is voiced by Orson Welles, a famous actor known for movies like Citizen Kane, and the original radio broadcast of War of the Worlds, he was also George Lucas' original pick for the voice of Darth Vader, before thinking that his voice would be too recognizable. - A lot of the original series main Autobots were killed in the opening, such as Rachet and Ironhide. - Galvatorn is voiced by Lenord Nemoy, most famous for playing Spock in Star Trek, and voiced Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon. - Arcee's head design is based off of Princess Leia's hair style in A New Hope. I'll also say Bumblebee's swear in this movie is hilarious, also hilarious that you didn't notice it. Like, this is a movie for kids primarily, and Bumblebee says "shit" plain and simple. Though I guess it's clear the filmmakers weren't pulling any punches the moment they killed off several characters kids had been watching for years.

Bro if you think this is good you should watch the Transformers Prime animated series. Legit some of the best transformers content ever made. It also has the original voice actors for Optimus Prime and Megatron
