Little known sequel to this movie, Ollie Hopnoodles Haven of Bliss. It’s the only sequel worth watching and it’s a fun watch. You should check it out in the summer, since it’s about their summer vacation. P. S. You can only watch it on YouTube.

We watch this every year (some network always has a marathon of it for Christmas Day), and the first time she sees the opening my mother goes, "Streetcars! I remember those!" She was born a few years after the movie was set, so it's even more nostalgic for her than those of us in younger generations. We had a few real trees, but most of my childhood we had a reusable plastic one... my mother made a fake trunk for the base from a cardboard salt canister covered in glue and rolled in coffee grounds. It was surprisingly effective given how many people thought it was real! But as far as my personal yearly rewatch essential, it's the 1951 "Scrooge" starring Alistair Sim on Christmas Eve. Not easy to find on TV anymore so I have to rely on YouTube these days.
