Trevor S Bright

I only just this year saw this movie from start-to-finish. I saw certain scenes (like the "Oh Fudge" scene, the part where Ralphie beats Scut Farkus, & when Ralphie "shoots his eye out"). I might have been too young and/or innocent as a kid. I wasn't a BB gun kid....my Mom would never allow it....she grew up on a farm, so she knew what kind of antics boys with BBs could get into...my Dad was into hunting at least when I was still young...tho he doesnt hunt anymore, he still has his guns & gun accessories (for "protection" despite the fact that they're always locked up tight & my autistic ears would never take firing a gun...so his guns just take up space). Also, my innocent mind would never have known that kids that age were schemers...I actually as a kid thought Ralphie was crying for real at the end...it never occurred to me that kids could be sneaky like that. So I got sad too as Ralphie cried. I've always been overly empathetic, so some things make me cry rather easily. Also the language....my Dad is very similar to "the Old Man". He thinks he knows everything, & any time he dinks around the house, past & to this day, something will go wrong and it'll be "Jesus Christ" this or "Goddamit" that....as a kid I knew those words as far as I can remember as well as "piece of shit" cuz of my Dad....he said "fuck" too...but I didn't really know that word till I was about 12...my Dad doesnt scream like Ralphie's dad. He more "loudly mutters" to the point where certain words are more recognizable, so "fuck" was never on my radar since he was always in another room doing his tirades.....however I did recently learn (as I watched this with my Mom on her 1st time watching this) that apparently "fuck" was among my 1st 100 words when I was like 1 year old. All thanks to MY "Old Man". And apparently I said it regularly enough that she had to train it out of me.
