Maul didn't use the force cause it wouldn't be a honorable way to kill him. Obviously, Maul could of just force choked him as soon the duel started but then Pre Vizsla soldiers wouldn't follow him. Maul could only use the force in subtle ways like increased speed, reflexes, deflecting blaster bolts. Also at the end of the duel when Maul knees Vizsla in the face you can see a tooth get knocked out. Fun fact: Dave Filoni wanted to animate a shot of Vizsla's head rolling down the steps but it was cut because the network said it was too dark.

I know someone has already mentioned it but yes that is the same lightsaber Maul had in Episode 1 when he fought Obi-Wan and Qui Gon. Obi-Wan cut in half during their duel. So, it is a single sided lightsaber now.
