as a chloexhalle stan since their disney days, i can say that chloe's solo music so far has not been that great. the music is nowhere near unlistenable or bad, but it's kind of jarring to see a previous alt rnb girl who was producing music can't hear anywhere else to making radio friendly rnb & pop music. she did something great with "body do", and i hope she leans into that sound more in the future. i can see her making alternative dance music and making it work

I think people underestimate Mathews direction in early days DC and Beyonce. Chloe needs that figure to guide her choices a bit better because the exposure is there but the musical choices aren't good. Thats probably why Beyonce/Parkwood gives her so much freedom because Matthew was micromanaging DC and Beyonce in those early days.

The funny thing is the manipulative/“cycle of abuse” dynamic happens outside of romantic/intimate relationships. It happens in friendships and jobs. I stayed at a job for way too long for a boss that would go from being completely derogatory and then completely be nice/kind a day later. It wasn’t until my new co-worker pointed it out that it finally downed on me that I was basically in an abusive relationship. There were other factors that led me to staying far longer in the job - (I was in a different country; I worked really hard to get my foot in the door in a tough industry; etc…). But I also believed that my boss would change and do the things she said she would do because of all the “nice” things she did for me at that time (i.e., visit me in the hospital when I got sick). But 70 percent of the time, she was horrible to me and the other people in the office.

If anyone asked me if I would ever be an abusive relationship in an intimate relationship, I would absolutely not. I have my guard up regarding men from what I have seen from my friends/relatives. But I fell for the same manipulative tactics from a boss. It’s much easier to leave a job, because you don't have intimate feelings; family; and other attachments. So I have a lot of empathy for people who are stuck in this cycle of abuse.
