Fortnightly Progress - 21st August (Patreon)

• No Haven

So this was supposed to be up last Thursday, and if you're on the Notification tier, one of the tiers above that, or follow my Twitter you already know why as yesterday was the first Quality of Life update for No Haven in 0.982.

If you don't mind indulging me. Some backstory and setup first.

Early last week I was typing out a comment about a certain also UK based developer about the way they don't fix bugs for months at a time. That was when I had a sobering moment of self realisation that I was basically calling myself out.

Now I'm just one guy and not a big company, and there's been some mitigating circumstances for sure but still felt like I should really do something about this. Mainly as one patron basically sent me pages, and pages, and even more pages of bugs that came in after last update's hotfixes and I've been leaving undealt with for awhile (seriously, you're an utter star for finding them and taking the time to d).

There's also that there's been some lovely art since the last update, and it's especially galling that each time I've posted one of them, I've been including the link to the update which still has my cobbled together title rather than the fantastic new one.

Add that there was a solid idea on the discord for a new mechanic and I decided that taking some time off from the writing (which thankfully I think I can see the end in sight of) to actually provide something that you can play rather than just more talk felt like it had to be done.

If anything, it's a win for my morale to get something concrete out, and that I very much needed. 

I may well do this again to ensure there's a more consistent steady stream of content in the gaps between working on the big proper updates with all the assignments, more complex new content, and the patron funded stuff. 

I'm not planning to put up a hotfix for it, as I don't think it should need one unless I've managed to really break something in there. So what I am going to do in terms of doing a public release is to put that up on both the Twitter and Tumblr this Sunday if all goes well. 

If you've not seen them, I posted the genuinely quite substantially lengthy patch notes on the Twitter. Highlights include the new Endearment mechanic, being able to retire your people, and now ambushing the letter sender actually does something. 

I'll hold off posting this update to other more public places and save those for the proper updates as I figure this is more for those that are already invested enough to be checking at least one of my socials. 

• The No Haven Conversion / Picarto Streams

Speaking of wins for my morale I've now managed to start assignments in Twine in every region! So happy to not just be grinding out just Great Plains ones over and over.

The process I mentioned last time about being able to far better convert RAGS code, complete with preserving the logic of the condition structure, actually worked in testing, and so that's also dang lovely. 

• Commissions

July+August - Dominance Training : What I said last time, "First part is done. There's actually been some progress on part two. This might actually be finished by the next one of these!" Aww, it was not. Maybe the next one?

March+April - Barbrous Bargains : It's finished, and will be up on the Patreon tomorrow. Artist has it up on their twitter already. From it I've got some of the nicest comments and engagement an artist post has ever gotten so should be one to look forward to seeing. 

May+June - Whores for the Whore Makers : Seen two sketches. Off to a promising start.

May+June - Clandestine Insinuations : I've reached out to an artist and they reckon they should be able to start by the end of the month.

July - Diminuitive Domination : This has already been started and I've seen two sketches followed up by the base colours so far. You're going to be seeing more of the drow guy than I initially thought given my suggested pose.

As for the most recent commission poll...

Well colour me legit surprised. I genuinely figured I'd end up doing the Antiques Dealer just with description, and a blank background. Guessing you lot really want that extra gold sink I guess :D
