Posting this for all patrons as this is now finished to let everyone know what happened.

Idea with this is the discord works together to come up with an assignment. Previously it led to Arisin' on the Storm and Little Demon, Big City which are both assignments I love. With the latter and with this one it also involves getting a commission done special.

The pitch that won was:

They say it's not easy being green, and this is especially true when some ancestor or another decided that raiding is too dangerous and the solution to all that ails you is a good hoe. A metal one, specifically. The wooden ones are no good for farming. The problem for this village of farmers (who just so happen to be orcs) is that noone will sell them any hoes. They keep shouting at them and misunderstanding their requests. So they decided to put out the word amongst the camps that times are dire, and they are in need of some top quality hoes for the next season, and they'll pay top price for them. Nothing can go wrong with this request. Nothing.

Week 5 was to discuss what the assignment might involve which resulted in the following prompts from the Discord:

  • Do you provide them with ACTUAL hoes like they have requested, and if so how do you get them? (Crafting quest????)
  • Do you provide them with litteral hoes, of the slave variety?
  • If so, how do the orcs react?
  • Are you a doo-gooder and try to rescue the damsels in distress in a daring night infiltration, only to find yourself well and truly humiliated when all you find are turnips and tools. Or maybe you are mistaken for a corn-thief?
  • Personally, I was thinking that for the first, it would be funny to have a (hidden?) outcome where you send a slaver who disregards the leader's suggestions and realizes the orc just needs a good farming implement, and it gives crafting XP all of a sudden. Maybe a combination of (C:Me) and (Rvd)?
  • How about you setup a sting operation with an undercover hoe (That can be the PC) They can run afoul of rival wannabe hoe-providers So while the orcs themselves would probably not take advantage of the misunderstanding, someone else might spoil your hoe
  • you know if you give them a pony-girl trained girl that could pull a plow
  • Even the least work-minded slut can be put to potato-peeling duty with the right incentive, I hear.
  • ...I actually quite like the idea that when you send hoes of the people-variety over that on crits and such they get to work on the farm for a while. Maybe it'd come with a temporary, guaranteed to be safe removal of, say, 2 weeks or so?
  • Maybe slavers can even be assigned the "slave" role, but with a respect check? Unless they had a good time before, in which case the respect check might be easier?
  • Honestly I vote for the other way round. The "default" is actually supplying them with hoes, with special conditions (Slutty?) (Sex Addict?) (Thug?) being required for supplying them with willing sluts
  • That could work, like a PC that doesn't meet the lewd prerequisites treating it entirely on-the-level and seeing nothing lewd about it at all, potentially with some shock when suitably lewd slavers/slaves do end up taking the task not entirely-on-the-level.
  • Thoughts on the location - we have a lot of farms in the Great Plains already, so would there be a reason for these orcs to be elsewhere? I'd imagine the plains make the most sense!
  • That makes sense. The only thing I could think would make it not be there, is because these orcish farmers are "outcasty" but I kinda like the idea of the plains being "the farming area"
  • Plenty of arable land! And within reach of places to sell their produce. Well. Produce that they'd sell if they had the hoes they craved.
  • What rarity would this assignment be? Uncommon, perhaps? Unless there are a lot of miscommunications involving orcs and farming tools.
  • Uc at least maybe Uc+
  • And if it does end up being a rare, I suppose it could be a decently rewarding assignment, too.
  • What kinds of rewards might come from this, and let's assume there will be a lewd and entirely-on-the-level approach? Gold's an easy enough answer, but maybe the latter can come with a shipment of supplies a few weeks down the line!
  • cash money  was my first instinct, but perhaps on a crit a young orc wanting to make their way for themselves volunteers to join your slavers? (they could have culinary skills if you want but I think that might be unnecessary)
  • Probably hardy and strong from their work, at least!
  • I like the thought of one reward being your slave(r)s having a good time working on the farm for a nice morale bonus
  • Farm supply route Could also do a supply reward with a temporary camp buff for fresh food. Could work like the morale boost from a goodish cook.
  • So, I think that various trade related traits would be nice, similar to when purchasing supplies, but with C:Cu and C:Br swapped for C:Me and C:De, and I'd even suggest a version (if possible) where if people with those traits go on it, the assignment makes it clear that they made the things themselves, rather than just being the middle-man in a Farm Supplies deal. Pea should also be a bonus, maybe also Sym?
  • Maybe even enchanters, so it can be left to the player's imagination whether or not this enchanter-smith just made a Hoe of Plowing +4 or not.

Week 6 was to determine what the commission would involve.  As there was pretty much consensus, with the ideas that weren't being out of the scope in terms of number of character, I talked to the patron whose been organising this, and they said 'I'd say maybe you can pick the idea you like the most!' so I'm going to go with that then :)

So I'm going with the elven bimbo in a farming tool shed with plenty of various rustic implements, but notably lacking in actual hoes. Ideally also including a smaller neko slaver arguing with a larger orc farmer either like with the background heads like the Trollop vs. Lago'Mae or the Lizardman shadow in Hidden Temple. Will work it out with the artist.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and this will be included in a later update.
