New Ambience: Ghosts of Appalachia (Patreon)

Greetings Patrons,
This week's track evolved rather organically from a simple breathy vocal ambience to a derelict mountain shack in wintertime. As I played with the vocals - both melodic and non-melodic I created kind of a 'sound bath' - meaning there's nothing distinct in terms of melody, harmony or rhythm. Things just exist, and then don't.
I planned that this was going to be ghost related - or adjacent - because it seemed like a natural fit. But, it wasn't until I added the meanderings and scratchings of various acoustic instruments (mandolin, banjo, guitar, plucked violin) that the idea of a derelict cabin in Appalachia came to me.
The ambience is from the interior of this cabin. My thought was that a traveler came upon it looking for shelter and built a fire in the old stove. Soft winds blow through the mostly broken windows, shutters knock about, and floorboards creak.
As this track is in Patreon-only sneak-peek mode (live on the site next week), I've included the mixed-track, as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions at the bottom of this post. Additionally, I amped up the wind and tree activity for a 'storm' version of the track. I've included both a storm mixed-version as well as a storm ambience-only versions as well.
As an aside, the very breathy nature of the vocals in this track is often indistinguishable from wind (I liked that) so you may feel like a bit of ambience has snuck into the music-only version - and, you're technically not wrong!
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
