Greetings Patrons,
My thinking behind this was to do a kind of Bernard Herrmann-esque track, full of dissonance and strangeness and somehow maintain it over the course of 10 minutes. This isn't an action piece at all. It's more of a prelude to action, or possibly, the avoidance of action. I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out.
Here is the mythical Roc, in her clifftop nest with a few fledglings, possibly an egg or two. She's on edge because she can sense danger, but she needs to stay close to her brood.
Musically, as I mentioned, it's Herrmann-esque, but mostly underscore. It would make a good generic tension track for just about any genre I think. It uses some odd instrument combos, like contrabass clarinet, xylophone, and timpani. The wavering, dissonant high strings keep everything slightly on edge. Also, nothing is aligned to a grid. Everything is free-floating, both rhythmically and tonally.
The ambience portion is a rocky clifftop, with wind, scree, and an agitated giant bird. As this is in patron-only sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed-version of the track (live on the site next week), as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions. Additionally, I've included a mixed-version and an ambience-only version without the Roc, so basically a windy mountain top. This could be useful for when you dispatch the bird or the bird hasn't arrived yet. I hope you find these useful.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
