Greetings Patrons,

I began this piece with the rising and falling glissando synth line and thought it sounded pretty grand on its own, but I kept adding parts to it: children's choir, regular choir, and another synth. Eventually, it became this cool undulating motif that made me think of rituals or ancient technology.

Once I realized it was going to be set in the desert, I decided I'd avoid the more standard 'desert-music' style instrumentation and try to evoke the sense of place in repetition, and vibe. I think it turned out quite well. The synth bells were a surprisingly nice last-minute addition. As I often do on tracks like this, I combine synthesized wind with the real thing. The ability to 'play' the wind can give the music interesting weight.

As this is in Patron-only sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed track (live on the site next week) as well as ambience-only and music-only versions of this track here. Additionally, I created 2 versions that don't have the beacon effect. It's fairly subtle when the music is on but more noticeable in the ambience only versions.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

This really goes to edge of Blade Runner, Stargate or Cyberpunk without tipping into it. Now I have to work out why there's an alien beacon on my desert planet!
