Greetings Patrons,

This ambience is a very recent request, but one of those that I felt I needed to do immediately. The medieval castle was a massive and complex ecosystem, and the kitchen was almost always at the center of it. From preparing feasts, to feeding the staff, to heating ordnance for siege engines. Ovens in some castles were as large as 14 feet in diameter and could roast 3 oxen at a time.

Here is the bustle, din, clang, chop and stir of such a busy kitchen. There are voices from outside, possibly a staff meal nearby.  There's nothing modern in terms of appliances here so this can also be used as a generic busy kitchen sound.

In my research I came across this fun implement: the tool in the left hand of the cook below was called a "flesh hook". This will surely find its way into a game or two I hope!

The main track contains a bit of incidental flute music and a piece by Elway Bevin called Browning that I arranged for lute . (It's from the 17th century so it's not technically medieval.)

I've included an ambience only version of the track and the 2 versions of the Lute piece (the second one has the lower register accompaniment).

Stay safe everyone, and thank you, as always, for the continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Just in time for my vampire brunch! Any chance you'd ever do a fantasy city like Waterdeep at night, when things are a little sleepier?

I’ll add that to my list. The Olde Towne SoundPad has a lot of sounds that could work.
