Greetings Patrons,

One of my absolute favorite ways to begin working on a track is by simply playing around with combinations of instruments. In this case, I was using several orchestral tuned percussion instruments where I might normally choose a piano. Celeste, Glockenspiel and Vibraphone have such unique tones, metallic and pure. I did end up putting a piano back, but played softly, so it mellows out the metals.

This was originally called 'Necrotic Woods' until I wrote the 'B' section and realized it was too magical sounding and not nearly grim enough for necrosis. I think it still maintains some darkness, a hint of danger, and a bit of foreboding, so the title got changed to 'Forgotten Forest' and voila! I liked it better.

The ambience is synthetic winds mixed with field recordings and processed a bit to sound vaguely unnatural. I combined this with creaking tree limbs, rustling leaves, and ghostly whispers.

As this is in sneak-peek mode for patrons, I've included the mixed version (live on the site next week) as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions. Additionally, I added 2 'No Whispers' versions (much more apparent in the ambience-only version) to make it slightly less super and more natural.

The music-only track will work nicely for magical environments. It's dramatic, tense, and cinematic without being too epic.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim
