Chapter 2 – Clash With the Four Devas! II

And much to the holy knight’s dismay, the female warrior was victorious in her attempt to parry her attack.

But it wasn’t over yet.

As soon as the female warrior landed, she attacked with numerous blows, slashes, and sweeps like a beast on land.

It was an impressive series of sword attacks, with the only way of countering it is to become better in speed and aerial maneuvering than your opponent.

Thankfully, the holy knight possessed these attributes, so she was able to overcome and escape the onslaught of the female warrior.

And so the clash of weapons continued. The battle raged on for just over an hour.

And when the battle ended,

“Haaa, haaa… I can’t move a muscle anymore,” the holy knight panted, trying to catch her breath.

“‘Yeah, it can’t be helped. But with this, it’s 151 wins, 150 losses, and 56 draws for me,” the female warrior also replied.

“What are you talking about? It’s 152 wins, 151 losses, and 54 ties for me,” the Holy Knight corrected her.

“Ufufufufufu. Is that a joke? Besides, you can’t even do math. Where did that record come from?”

“The same goes for you, you damn fermented miso for a brain! Don’t get all smart on me!”

“What did you say to me?!”

“What did ‘you’ say to me?”

It was at this point that the female warrior approached the holy knight, her armor clanking.

The holy knight glared back.

Normally, this situation would lead to one of them saying, “Let’s have another fight, then!”

But for some reason, that didn’t happen today.

“Oh, stop it. There’s no point in exhausting ourselves here.”

Instead, the holy knight was the first to suggest a truce.

“Yes, you’re right. Let’s rest our bodies until evening.”

And surprisingly, the female warrior also agreed.

((After all, tonight is the day of the decisive battle.))

Today was the deadline these women had set to get the missing merchant back. They were planning to storm Newland Castle at sunset.

◇◆◇

As the sun set, turning the evening sky a deep purple, the sharp white curve of the moon appeared in the sky, resembling a silver bow.

Under this beauty of a celestial body, the source of many of the superstitious beliefs of the night, the female warrior brought a cup of water to her lips and took a sip.

Each and every one of her living cells immediately absorbed the hydration as if they all knew the battle that lay ahead.

The female warrior’s powerful physique was dressed in a peculiar, or rather unique, style that resembled an almost naked bikini suit of armor.

While with gauntlets and knee guards protecting her arms and legs without a gap, it showed off her toned muscles – her sculpted abdomen, defined back, firm thighs, and well-built shoulders – for all and everyone to see.

It was an almost artistic sight, and she was reminiscent of the goddess of war as told in warrior tales of old.

But now, this “Goddess of War” was pursing her shapely lips, and without warning, she smashed her empty cup to the ground, shattering it to pieces.

Next to her was another overturned cup, which had previously been in a company of the hands of a beautiful holy knight, also lying in pieces.

Then, as if to finish this “drinking ritual,” this holy knight briskly brushed off her cape and then jumped onto her Pegasus with nimble grace.

“Get on,” she spoke to the female warrior, urging her on with a motion of her head as a signal.

“Okay,” the warrior replied, jumping up and straddling the horse just behind the holy knight’s cape.

As soon as her bikini-clad buttocks touched the horse’s and settled, the white Pegasus neighed and sped away. With no stirrups on her saddle, the female warrior reached out and grabbed the holy knight’s belt to stabilize herself.

“Here we go! We’re taking off!” the knight shouted.

With that, the white Pegasus flapped its wings and raced through the outskirts of the city the merchant had built, keeping a low profile as it flew just above the ground.

“Remember what I told you earlier? That the Demon Lord’s castle is teeming with countless monsters as its guards.”

The holy knight began to tell the female warrior, as if giving her a briefing.

“Yes, yes. And you’re the one who’s supposed to take care of those small fries, right?”

The female warrior confirmed, as if annoyed.

“Yes. And as for the troublesome ones that I cannot easily defeat, I’ll leave them to you.”

But the holy knight doesn’t pay any attention to that and only answers in confirmation.

The holy knight excelled in one-versus-many battles, while the female warrior excelled in one-on-one battles. It was a well-thought-out strategy that made the most of their respective strengths.

However, the idea of the two of them conquering the Demon Lord’s Castle alone was not only tantamount to recklessness, but also risking everything against impossible odds.

After all, the Demons in the castle were far superior compared to those elsewhere. And most importantly, the existence of the Demon Lord herself was completely out of their league.

However, it was a fact that Newland refused to return the merchant as promised, instead telling them, “We will return him to you, so just wait and see,” over and over again. Not to mention the fact that six months had passed without them seeing a single strand of the merchant’s hair, it pushed them beyond the limits of their patience.

They had finally exploded, and all their critical thinking – of which the two of them combined had very little to begin with – was thrown out the window.

A steady rhythm of hooves echoed as they moved toward the heart of the Demon Lord’s capital city. It seemed that no one had yet caught wind of their presence.

But that was good news, because to do the impossible, a surprise attack would be their only option.

As they continued to hide their presence, they aimed to reach the Demon Lord’s castle unnoticed.

But just as they were thinking about how to get in, it happened.

“Hey, look! There are so many… Do you think they have noticed us?”

These words came first from the lips of the holy knight.

Because upon looking ahead, a thousand fiery torches could be seen advancing toward them with fierce energy.
