Chapter 6 – Goblin Subjugation, Part 3

Emmy found the group and ran about 100 meters from where we are.

Despite the distance, it didn’t even take her 10 seconds.

And that’s on a roadless path in the woods, you know?

Of course, with a fully blessed Holy Knight’s body, I could easily catch up.

As expected, a Holy Knight’s body is different! That is what I want to say, but even Greg is keeping up too.

There I learned that the physical abilities of the adventurers and guards in this world, especially those who have trained themselves, can’t be compared to those of the people in my original world.

Oops, I digressed.

Turning back to the goblins, one out of ten is quite huge.

It’s about the same size as me, but the others are about the size of children, so relatively speaking, it is quite huge for its species.

Moreover, its skin color is not green but blue.

I guess they are called hobgoblins?

And from the looks of it, I think he is the leader of this pack.

The formation of the pack is that the hobgoblin is at the very back, and the others are standing in front of him as if they are protecting him.

A few seconds after the group was in sight, with about 50 meters to go, the hobgoblin standing at the rear was hit between the eyes by an arrow and fell down with a thud.

Emmy must have shot him from the rear.

She must have fired the arrow from more than 100 meters away.

That’s pretty impressive.

Emmy is good at [Wind Magic] as well as [Bowmanship], and it is said that she can dramatically increase the accuracy, range, and power of her arrows by adding the power of wind magic to the arrows she shoots.

At about the same time the hobgoblin fell, I took out a short spear from the [Unit Storage].

When their leader fell, I threw the short spear toward the pack of goblins, who were still in a tight formation despite their panic.

I threw the spear without any particular skill, but it flew with a roar and skewered two goblins in its path.

At this point, the goblins finally realized that they had to run, and tried to disperse, but it was too late.

I charged into the group, giving the remaining a quick cleave with my longsword, and another two of the goblins’ heads flew off.

Greg, who also rushed in at the same time, had already crushed two of the goblins’ heads by the time I looked at him.

Since both of us are handling melee weapons, the distance we covered is not that great.

Because of this, some have already escaped as we are taking down the nearest prey.

But we didn’t care about that and continued taking out the ones within our reach.

Soon after, we heard the sound of goblins falling with a thud.

Even if you can escape from both of us, you can’t escape from Emmy’s arrows.

“Phew… Well, that was an easy win.”

Greg, who was bathed in the goblin’s blood, gave me a fresh smile as he shook off the blood from his mace.

It’s kind of a bizarre picture.

I picked up the short spear that I had thrown first, applied Holy Purification to the longsword as well as my body covered with the goblin’s blood, and put the short spear in the [Unit Storage].

I also applied Holy Purification to Greg’s mace and himself.

“Oh, thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

In the meantime, Emmy joined us and smiled.

“Good job, both of you.”

The two men were comforted by her smile.

The hunt for the remnants of the group was only a one-day trip.

Some of the volunteers had never camped before, making it too dangerous for them to camp so close to the forest.

It is not good to push these people further, or they will drop their morale and cause disaster.

Besides, we aren’t the only volunteer army here. Several troops were also dispatched from other places to cover a lot of areas.

There was no need for this group to hunt down all the remnants by itself.

Also, by dispatching troops from towns, villages, and hamlets located some distance away, we were able to conduct a wide-range hunt for the remnants, even with a bit of a time delay.

As a result, no one group was overwhelmed.

We started the hunt again after that, and this time, we took a total of 30 goblins.

Since our goal this time was to kill 100 goblins in total, taking down 30% by us three alone is already a good result.

When it was a little past noon, we grilled some Rabbit meat on the barbecue set I have and had lunch.

The barbecue sauce I took out was a hit with Greg, and he even asked me if he could procure one for himself, but when I explained that there were restrictions imposed by the God of Commerce on my stuff, he gave up easily.

We killed five more goblins on the way back and returned to the carriages.

Perhaps because there is still some time before sunset, the other members of the volunteer army are still yet to return, so only Ada, the coachman, and a few villagers who were standing guard were there.

“What a surprise. You’re back so early!”

Ada called out to us as she spotted us.

“We killed 35 of them, including a hobgoblin. That should be enough.”

“I see.”

Ada seemed satisfied with Greg’s report.

We divided our catch equally.

I kept mine and Emmy’s, and Ada kept Greg’s.

“Oh, you’ve already dismantled it?”

“My [Storage] already has a disassembly function, so…”

“How convenient.”

Of the dismantled materials, I saw Greg and Ada storing the easily perishable meat and organs in a storage box, a box with space and time magic enchanted on it.

There, I was told that Goblin meat and organs are not edible, but they can be fermented for use as fertilizer or dried and crushed for use as animal feed.

The storage box is small enough to be carried by a single adult, but it can hold as much as a cargo container in my original world, and like my [Unit Storage], time stands still inside the box.

It is lent to those who make a contract with the God of Commerce, and its use is not permitted except by the individual, and it disappears when the business is done.

It is a valuable item that only a full-fledged merchant who can make a contract with the God of Commerce can possess.

It is even said that merchants that possess these storage boxes for trade are a rarity.

The box weighs about 5 kilograms, but no matter how many things you put in it, the weight will remain the same, so you can carry it on foot or put it on a cart.

“I think I explained to you beforehand that I would buy your catch on the spot, but I was wondering if you would be willing to dismantle it for me afterward? Of course, I will pay you for your services.”

“That’s an easy task for us, so no problem.”

After that, the volunteer army members returned here and there.

They were each carrying a dead goblin on their backs or on a cart.

Ada bought those goblins for 1,000 G per goblin and threw them directly into the storage box.

Incidentally, if we delivered them directly to the guilds, the price would be 1,500 G as they were, or 2,000 G if they had already been dismantled, but considering the labor involved in carrying the corpses via storage box, it was negotiated that Ada will buy them for 1,000 G.

In the end, we were able to kill a total of 128 goblins that day.

All the volunteers returned to the carriage without any injuries.

Because there were no problems, the carriage was able to leave before sunset and was able to return to the village a little early in the evening.

At the entrance to the village, acquaintances and family members of those who participated in the volunteer army were waiting for their arrival.

They had a warm and simple welcome, some going straight home, others going for a drink to celebrate, etc. In the end, the volunteer army broke up on the spot upon arrival.

As for us, we went with Ada to “Monster Bird’s Perch,” where we ate and drank together with more than a dozen members of the volunteer army, including the leader of the group with the lost leg.

It was a rowdy yet a jubilant night.

“Uhm, We’ll be leaving now.”

As the party was about to end, Greg disappeared from the dining hall with two mature-looking women who had joined the volunteer army.

Un. Keep up the good work….
