Just what I was hoping for today!

Those are words I like to hear! Thanks for the chapter!

I should’ve let the chapters stockpile first. I’m dying to read more. Thanks for the chapter!

Raveve

thanks for the chapter

Thanks for the chapter! Right now you have defensive auras listed after aura metamagics and before magical utility, I'd recommend putting that section after magical utility so that all of the aura skills are back to back. Its a minor thing but it makes the list order a bit more intuitive.

Good chapter. Need more please. Also Val will be running off.

uhhh....this may seem trivial, but is he really not going to thank Amelia for bringing him back from the brink of death? She went above and beyond to help them and he just kinda skipped over it.

This is a good point. It happens off screen after Carten finishes telling what happened, but it does feel like it got glossed over too much. There wasn't a good point to put it in before the break, so I just added it in right after: Rain sat, thinking. After listening to Carten’s retelling of the events since the chasm, the first thing he’d done was to thank Ameliah profusely for her heroic dive off the cliff to save him. She had accepted his thanks awkwardly and he decided not to make too big of a deal of her saving his life, not after how uncomfortable she had seemed while Carten was singing her praises. He’d have to find some way of thanking her properly once they were out of the lair. He’d also used Essence Well to refill a good portion of Jamus’s mana. Val and Ameliah had already recovered to full by the time he’d woken up. Ameliah’s stamina was only at around 3/4, though there wasn’t much he could do about that. Her health was also down a sliver, which Rain guessed meant she was unable to heal herself for whatever reason. He had decided against asking her right now and added it to his ever-growing list of questions. He rubbed at his sore neck, then returned his attention to his skills menu.

Hm, since cost/hp blocked scales up with level too, Force Ward is not at all as OP as anticipated. At level 10, it'll barely make up for the missing Strength Ring. Now, depending on how armour is calculated, it might still be good in a combo; splitting incoming damage in half and THEN subtracting armour value would mean that stuff that would normally pierce chainmail instead bounces off. On the other hand, if the ward kicks in *after* armor, it saves on mana. And of course Carten, with lots of resistance already, would welcome more of it.

Who else thinks the Dungeon Core listens to everything they say (so, bad tactical decision to say they'll destroy it) and dangles the essence monster as bait for Val on purpose, to make him take stupid risks?

Love the story. --Spoiler-ish-- Just to confirm, Val is level 5 and level locked, so killing a rank 5 blue may unlock his class but won't allow him to level. He'll have to go kill another one after?

Anonymous

depends. If Val is level locked, yes. but if Val is just stuck at lvl 5 due to not picking a class, he can level higher still.

I get the feeling that the defensive auras are meant for significantly higher level adventurers than their attack and utility counterparts. They only really seem like they'll be useful once aura synergy has really, really got the ball rolling. Once he has 24 maxed auras, the wards will start naturally going over one hundred percent without modifiers, and he'll be able to use channel mastery to keep it at one hundred and start boosting efficiency.

Couldnt rain power level force ward by having someone else get punched on purpose repeatedly?

Imp

"The only thing I could do with it was orient objects and place them against each other, no fastening or gluing allowed. " Do you mean no fastening or gluing needed? That would make a bit more sense, given the context

Ok. He should level Aura Synergy to 10 so he can get Prismatic Intent in order to use 2 auras simultaneously. Then, with his last point, get either Cold Ward or Heat Ward so he can use one of his offensive auras while protecting his allies from the environmental effects. Of course with Aura IFF fully leveled as well.

Anonymous

Wait; nevermind. He also needs 1 rank in 15 different auras for Prismatic Intent. He only has 8 now, so he'll need another blue first. In the absence of a higher-level essence monster kill, my vote is for Summer and Spring once he's out of the dungeon. They're slow-leveling, so it'll give him something to work on.
