You got the off-colors plight right away, and it's so sad! They are basically the Crystal Gems if they didn't have the Earth...always hiding and nobody to tell them they're fine just how they are. Padparadscha is my absolute favorite! She comes in at these moments of high tension to adorably recap what literally just happened and it breaks the mood just right. And S5 never really slows down. The creator insisted on a certain story point later in this season which caused Cartoon Network to axe S6. It took a lot of work and fan backlash, but that's why the Movie and SU Future exists. So, Rebecca Sugar got to finish the story.

Oh!! And since you were musing about how to pace out the rest of the season: you should know that episodes 23-24 are a two part special called "Reunited" and the last 4 episodes are really just one 45 minute special called, "Change Your Mind". These generally are packaged as long episodes so...just FYI!!
