So, for some reason Fighter subclasses have always been the hardest thing for me to design. It's hard to decide what can stand on its own as a subclass theme, what could just be a fighting style, and "could I just build this with a Battle Master?".

At some point I may create an "Alternate Fighter" that incorporated maneuvers into the base class, giving you room for more "pure" subclasses - Knight, Duelist, Scout, Defender, Brawler, but for now, enjoy these six new Martial Archetypes!

Commando - Meant to represent elite soldiers like Navy Seals and Army Rangers, the Commando is a warrior who can adapt and overcome any obstacle!

Pact Warrior - Part of my ongoing "Blood Hunter: Dissected" project, the Pact Warrior is a balanced take on the Order of the Profane Soul. You don't get a real patron, just a secretive generalized one. Based on the scaling of the Eldritch Knight, but you get Warlock things in place of Wizard things!

Phalanx Warrior - My take on a defender/shield subclass based on ancient Phalanx formations. You have a Paladin-like defensive aura that provides bonuses to AC, and eventually cover. Some cool defensive reactions too.

Quartermaster - One of my oldest brews, this supportive Fighter buffs their fellow adventurers with a slew of prepared rations!

Sharpshooter - Another archetype that has been hard for me to create. Everyone either says "YES THIS DEFINITELY USES GUNS" or "NEVER GUNS EVER". I've tried to take a middle ground where you could take advantage of guns if they exist in your setting, but if not, you are still just as useful with a bow/crossbow.

Tinker Knight - This one is really out there. I wanted to combine the Artificer and the Fighter (sort of like an Eldritch Knight), but I ended up creating a weird inventor that is based on the new Rune Knight chassis from Tasha's.

As always, let me know what you think!

Fighter Martial Archetypes by laserllama

At 3rd level, a fighter gains the martial archetype feature. The following options are available to the fighter, in addition to the options in the Players Handbook: the Commando, Immortal, Phalanx Warrior, Quartermaster, Sharpshooter, and the Tinker Knight. When commanders and conquerers need a mission executed with the utmost precision, they turn to the elite Commandos in their ranks.
