Hey everyone!  Here I am with episode 1 of Spy x Family, yayyyyy!!!  You guys, I am already in LOVE with this series!  Anya is EVERYTHING!!!  I'm having fun learning about Twilight too, and seeing their amazingly hilarious interactions.  The ambience and setting is cool too, feels very James Bond-ish.  I'm so happy Anya has found her Papa, and to be honest, I think she's going to be great for him too!!!  Seems like there's a lot he hasn't been addressing at all lol.  Can't wait for more of their adventures - looks like next time we'll get a mom too!!!  So happy I'm watching this!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Anya is most likely 4 or 5. she was reading Twighlight's mind the whole time and lied so he would pick her. you are 100% right I think on the type of show this is. i believe it aired in the Spring. The only other relatively new show that I would compare with the popularity and greatness of this one would be My Dress Up Darling. only season 3 of Kaguya Sama Love is War topped this show and My Dress Up Darling this past year in my opinion. I highly recommend that show even if you watch it on your own.

Manny

Aw this girl is so sweet. Someone give her a pistol with a silencer she's earned it! Give her all the pistol silencers in the world! 😢 😭 Wait what? 😶

kamenriderhime

Right?! Hahahaha lavish this sweet child with all the spy pistols......oh wait hahaha scratch that!!!!!!! :P

kamenriderhime

Gotcha!!! I started to put together that she was reading his mind. Nice, glad I nailed it with the genre/vibe! I've heard so much about My Dress Up Darling! Kaguya is hard to beat!! I do watch Kaguya on my own, sadly I started watching the beginning on my own so I just stuck with it! Great show though!

What I love most about this series (after the compelling characters, of course) is the quasi-East Berlin setting. It's a completely fictional world but meant to stand in for the tensions between West and East Germany during the Cold War. The aesthetics of "Berlint" are very reminiscent of East Berlin during the GDR days. Right down to the architecture. They really captured the feel of that specific time & place.

kamenriderhime

Ohhhh I knew it looked European, I couldn't tell where though! That makes total sense. And yes I agree, they do a great job with the ambience and details!

=After watching Comment= Some student during the exam: Eeny Meeny Miney Moe... Kagerou: Did someone just tried to transform into me? "MADNESS! HOPELESS! DARKNESS! BAT! KAMEN RIDER EVIL!!!"

LOL you were so excited to get into this show you completely forgot your usual opening monologue! So let’s talk real quick: there are two countries, Westalis and Ostalis. Twilight works forWestalis, and his mission is to prevent a war which factions in Ostalis are trying to start. That’s what Operation Strix is designed for at its core. Spies in general don’t have any attachments because they cannot have any loyalty to anyone except who they actually work for. That’s why Twilight is the way he is. Also he’s not just A spy… he is THE spy for Westalis. The James Bond, if you will. Yup, I kind of expected that reaction when you met Anya. She’s definitely part Chibi but she’s also dangerous. If you leave her unsupervised there’s no telling what kind of a mess you’re going to find yourself in. Also, you are requested to begin every reaction in this series from here on out with “WAKU WAKU.” Something to think about in this episode is that while Twilight has a lot of dialogue he doesn’t speak audibly a whole lot. Most of his lines are an inner monologue, and of course, Anya, being a telepath, hears it all. Being a parent is frightening enough when your kids don’t know everything you are thinking. Twilight is thinking he will discard Anya the same way he discarded Karen earlier because that’s how the spy game works. But despite his best efforts, he’s starting to warn to the child. He’s super panicked when he realizes he fell asleep in front of her, that’s how serious this game is. But you know how it is… things are always easier on paper. Better stock up on those peanuts! Also, the name he used was “Forger.” Which means “fake.” There’s a lot of that going around in this show. :D

kamenriderhime

LOL I totally did!!!! I realized it during the spiel for the next ep. :P Oops! Ohhh thanks for clearing that up about the countries! That makes sense about the lack of personal attachments for spies, and it must be even moreso in Twilight's case since he's THE guy. Hahaha Anya <3333 OMG I hope I can remember "waku waku" as part of my intro :P That's so true, the inner monologue is most of the dialogue, and since Anya can hear all that....well, you know the rest. I don't see how he possibly could keep Anya at the end of this, yet I think you're right that he's growing attached super fast! Ahhhh peanuts haha! YES!!! I was just thinking of the symbolism of the name recently, so fun!

2022-12-31 00:42:28 First off I have to say I fell in love with this show rather quickly but I can say that for sure after finishing the first 12 episodes. I’m glad you have heard enough about the show to be excited but not know much. The episode certainly starts off with a bang. I love the classic spy fiction feel of the start with the organization and this ultimate spy in Twilight. I should have known you were going to get a new crush with his design LOL. It’s really cool to see him at work just at the start with the whole master of disguise thing. He was slightly savage with the girl he was using for his job. It’s very interesting to see his personality/mindset of being very cold & being only about his job which is a big thing with spies in general. I love the Cold War type setting with countries a lot like East and West Berlin because I like European settings and they are not often shown in anime. It’s cool to see the codes in the newspaper. His surprise at the new mission is hilarious especially the voice acting which is great in general. One thing you can see is how good the humor in this show is. I love the whole always in the shadows with no thanks idea and it gives the sense that protecting people/peace is why he has such dedication. I was enamored by Anya almost immediately but was completely sold with the first “Waku Waku”. Her design is so unique it’s pretty iconic. The telepathy is a great twist/wrench to throw into the story it suits the setting. Her cuteness is nigh unstoppable. It’s funny and wholesome seeing Twilight dealing with a child and not really knowing what he’s doing especially seeing how exasperated he can be. Also Anya is not unintelligent she’s just younger and not as aware of the world than Twilight thought. I like the little shopping trip because Anya is such a realistic child with how she acts and does things. I love how Twilight being very intelligent picks up professional books on parenting/children which are going to be very useful depending on how long the mission lasts. The kind of hide and seek with Anya and Twilight is adorable. Anya going through Twilight’s gadgets is a disaster which is funny but oh so worrying. You got a giggle out of me thinking/saying she was going to cause a international incident LOL. And then we get a small idea of the sad life Anya had in the secret organization which gives the reason why she doesn’t like to study. It’s so amazing to see how awesome in a flight Twilight is. Also you can already see the worry and care coming through when he realizes she has been kidnapped because of him getting distracted. It’s impressive to see how Twilight tricks these goons and it’s great how Anya immediately calms down because she knows it’s Lord thanks to her telepathy. It’s a great way to see Twilight’s characterization through the very simple past and his original reason for becoming a spy. It really gives a nice realistic emotional side of things. Also it’s sad that it’s been so long he almost lost sight of wanting to make the world a better place for the powerless. This moment is when Anya completely fell in love with her papa because of his immense kindness in my opinion. It’s as bad ass as it is chilling to see him take out these goons. It’s great to see this heartwarming connection starting to form between the 2 of them. I like seeing how exhausting/stressful espionage is with what happens when he relaxes. I love how chill the ending song was it was fun to see you grooving to it. Love your thoughts at the end especially about children and what they need to learn/grow. Also the comments about pterodactyl noises were amazing LOL. Awesome reaction. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Yes, this show is amazing!!! Hahaha Loid was all lined up to be my new anime beau :P The setting is cool and interesting for sure and the way we set up Loid and how calm/coolly he handles everything tells a lot. I couldn't agree more about the humor and Anya's cuteness!!! Anya is SO ADORABLE!!!! And yes she's not unintelligent, rather just even younger and more inexperienced than Loid assumed. But the telepathy adds such a fun element to the story. Yes good for Loid brushing up on the subject!!! LOL glad you liked my international incident line!!! Itwas sad to see what she had been through up until now! Seeing him in action is great and also so heartwarming to see his interactions with / feelings about Anya start to develop. He's truly finding himself and his passions again through this experience! SO sweet to see Anya just completely make her Papa her hero in light of this! So glad you enjoyed my grooving, thoughts on child rearing, and most of all the pterodactyl noises haha!!! Thank you so much!!! I truly appreciate all your kindness!!!! ^_^
