Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of episode 2 of Watchmen!  So now that we are a bit established in the world/story, things start heating up in this ep as we learn more about the older man (HUGE reveal there, whoa), the police chief, and the rich older guy.
I like how they're dropping little breadcrumbs for us with flashbacks about the little boy/older man situation!  So this is very personal to our main character, apparently, hmm!
Also, just who exactly are his friends?!  And why is the rich older guy putting on plays about Dr. Manhattan where he kills his servants?!  I can't wait to know more!  Really enjoying the story so far!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

"I'm a hundred-and-five and you CURSE too MUCH." Love that line. He's such a sass and I love him. Once again, the letters from the beginning were real. Germany wasn't following the Reich during WWI, and they weren't above trying to get Black-American soldiers to defect to the German side. Note the language in the letter though...Calling grown Black men "boy" is the easiest way to lessen their agency. People with wings were just the media/journalists. They were using technology to spy on the crime scene and steal the scoop. SO! In regards to American Hero Story: If you remember the movie, there was the Black Freighter comic. That comic also exists within the graphic novel of Watchmen. Therefore, it is a comic within a comic that the audience reads the characters reading. In this instance, we have a television show within a television show that we Watch the Watchers Watching. Also, note the style choices for American Hero Story versus the "real world" of Watchmen...feels kind of familiar to anyone who's seen a Zach Snyder film.

Hahaha!!! Such a great line for sure! I'm really curious to see more about his character. Thanks about the letters at the beginning - I was wondering about that!!! Good point about the way in which they refer to black adult men though. There are a lot of interesting points about racism, both in history and in present day, throughout this show. Thanks for the info about the winged people!!! And that is so interesting about the American Hero Story!!! We've reached Inception levels of superheroes here!!! And yes, I can definitely see the stylized storytelling that's all too familiar haha. Once again, thanks for all the insights! Really happy you're watching along with me! ^_^
