Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 8 of Haikyu!! I loved getting to know Nishinoya better here! He certainly has some interesting motivations lol and I LOVE his energy!!! I also found Asahi's story really interesting, and sad! I think maybe he's going to find that love of volleyball all over again by meeting some of our loveable little scamps!! Really excited to see where this is going! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

Do I even want to know what you mean by “witching hour zoomies?” 😂 Also, I think you might’ve misinterpreted me last week - volleyball season is actually active as we speak, it usually ends in early to mid November - so I would recommend searching out and watching an actual official match or at least part of one, even if only on television, as it would up your understanding just by visually seeing it in action. We have a couple more VAs to add to the pile (I disregarded Ukai as there’s no point of reference I could find for you.) Nishinoya: Ghiaccio from JoJo Part 5, Genya from Demon Slayer, Himmel from Frieren, and yep - BAKUGO. You get full points for that one. 😁 Asahi: Tokoyami from MHA, Reiner from AoT, Youm from Slime Given who his VA is it’s not a huge shock that Noya’s a bit of a hurricane - he got slapped when he went after Kiyoko and just strutted along like “another day at the office.” It does seem like he has a fierce loyalty to Asahi we’re going to have to solve, though. Takeda is trying to get the clerk to come back because of his name, but the truth is, just because his travels was a brilliant coach, that doesn’t mean he is - but you aren’t going to know unless you try, right? Perhaps he’s worried about his own failure. Speaking of which, it’s failure that got Asahi in the position he did. Apparently ye had a really bad game where all his spikes were blocked (they probably weren’t all by one person, just so you’re aware - that’s not how the game usually works). Think like if you had a bad reacting day and couldn’t think of anything to comment on or a show didn’t give you any feeling - you probably wouldn’t feel that excited about your next attempt at it, right? (I don’t think that’s ever been an issue for you, but just try to visualize the example here.) But taking all the blame on yourself is something that a lot of us know too well. “Everyone’s counting on me. If I fail, the team fails. I can’t screw up. I have to always do everything right.” That kind of pressure will build on you after a while. There’s a rumor that he doesn’t like volleyball, but I’d say it’s more likely a very mild sports related case of PTSD, because when Hinata was describing the feeling of what he loves, it still resonated with him. But will it resonate enough to convince him to try again? Considering this is a sports AND a shonen anime, I think we can see how this script is lining itself up already. :) As for Hinata and facial hair I don’t even want to think about it.

I’m so happy you’re enjoying it! lol you got it. It’s Bakugou. You’d know that screaming tone anywhere. XD I knew you’d love Nishinoya. He’s a fan favorite. love his attitude towards Hinata. I would have loved to have someone like that around in high school. He lets Hinata know it’s possible. There’s nothing saying he can’t be an ace. He’s an upstanding guy who’s really proud of his role and his friends. I’ve definitely experienced what Asahi is going through. Falling out of love from one experience is all it takes to get you feeling like that. Which is why I think the first years are vital because seeing new innocent and fresh energy helps to look at things like you used to.

I really am! YAY!! Haha yeah he's easy to spot! He's SO cool! The dynamic is really fun for sure! He'd actually be a really great ace right? Omg I hear you Manny, so have I! And there's just something so refreshing about seeing that innocent, pure enthusiasm for a hobby or sport that inspires like nothing else!!!! Couldn't agree more!

Hahahha it's that time of day where dogs just get crazy with energy :P Ohhh ok good to know that it's active rn! I totally see all the other characters but Himmel being on that list still shocks me! I can totally see how the grandson might be worried, but I'd like to see him try! That's so rough for Asahi! PTSD or some form of it actually sounds closer than not liking the sport at all. Definitely feeling shonen-y with the power of friendship and bonds and all that! HAHAHA I can't picture Hinata with facial hair :P
