Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 2 of Haikyu!!! Oh dang!!! Well this one really started to answer the question of, how in the heck are we gonna get along?! I also like that Shoyo isn't the only one dealing with some struggles - even the King himself has faced some volleyball related hardships! I'm loving our team so far - we've got a cool and very decent captain and some other really funny and notable characters like Tanaka!!!!! Will our boys be able to get along long enough to prove themselves?! Let's find out! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

I'm usually a silent watcher, but I have to just comment that I'm so excited for this for you. I didn't care at all about sports as well, but this show just completely understands character and plot development so well that by the end of like season 1 I was cheering like it was a real game hahaha. Also, there's going to be a lot of familiar voices! The five we've met so far you've heard in: Shoyo - Udo in AOT season 4 (and they may turn up eventually in your other new show you are starting this week as well lol) Kageyama - Iida from MHA Daichi aka captain - Rengoku from Demon Slayer Suga aka nice gray hair - Ritsu from Mob Psycho Tanaka - Ino from JJK With many more incoming! Enjoy the ride, it's so rewarding!

As I said previously, Kageyama is Iida (MHA) and Naofumi (Shield Hero.) Since we’re already talking about VAs: Daichi (Rengoku from Demon Slayer, Bengalli from JoJo Part 6). Tanaka (Olmar from Vinland Saga S2). I think these early episodes are going to be a lot about Shoyo and Kageyama coming to terms with the other. You can kind of tell that Kageyama is impressed with the level of resolve that Shoyo is showing, but it’s also irritating him to no end. I gave you the basics of volleyball in my last comment, but let’s talk about the “setter” position, since it’s clearly a plot point here. As I explained before, you have three opportunities to touch the ball maximum before it must cross the net to the other team. Typically, the first touch is just Defense to get the ball up in the air and stop it from hitting inside your lines. The setter normally is the second player to touch the ball in sequence and will guide it where a player can use the third touch to hit, or spike the ball effectively back to the other side of the net. They basically “set the table” for the big shot. I think what’s interesting is these two are so at odds but I get the feeling it’s a metaphor, because one of them cannot be effective without the other’s involvement. Kageyama is self centered but can’t win alone, and Shoyo is super eager but he can’t do a thing without help. It’ll be interesting to see what the dynamic is. Hey, is the trouble making vice principal still bothering us? No? I guess we were tearing our hair out for nothing. 😏 By the way, based on the first two end previews, this appears to be taking a Bleach/JJK approach - the characters keep talking and break the fourth wall, so I would say you might be served to watch them and just focus on the dialogue - the images didn’t seem to be too spoilery. As in, you might miss some fun side chatter if you turn it off early. But that’s just based on two episodes, I can’t speak to know a whole lot about the series yet. Maybe check with some of the people who’ve been begging you to start this for a while? :)

Hi Melissa, it was really fun to rewatch the first two episodes of Haikyuu with you. It's been two years since I last saw it and I can't remember a thing. You can really call Hinata and Kageyama Naruto and Sasuke. They really give off the same vibes. I can assure you that Haikyuu will definitely teach you a lot not only about volleyball but also about friendship, dealing with loss and difficult decisions. I'm really looking forward to watching this anime with you over the next few weeks.😊

Thanks for the info! And that's amazing about the other VAs too! I think it'll take awhile for them to get along but I'm sure it will happen! Thanks for the basics and for this more detailed explanation of what a setter does. That's so true about the metaphor for their personalities/interactions here too! Lol what was with that VP! Oohhhh ok, thanks for the info on the endings! I'll see if anyone else has more input on the spoilery aspect of them in the long run, but it sounds fine so far!!! Thanks!
