Hello everyone and welcome to a new sneak peek of Lucky Paradox!
Today I feel like a troll coming out of his cave after a long time in isolation, well, isolation within isolation hahaha
It's been a great week with great progress both in the graphics, music and also in the translation of the game. I'll try to make this post as precise as possible, as I feel like I'm getting longer and longer when writing each progress report xD
So far there are already three fully translated stories, Charlotte, Layla and Maxy. Which corresponds to a translation of over 30,000 words. This is equal to 60% of the number of words that were rewritten during the remake restructure. Sirxtias has done a great job with the translation and is going at full speed (insert music from Deja Vu or another Eurobeat song here), it might even be finished during this week.
The main menu music theme of Lucky Paradox has been finished, there have been three attempts to find the right composition, but I think I am finally happy with the result. It is a very different song to the one seen in the game so far and maybe it's a little difficult to adapt at the beginning, but I think it fits much more to the spirit of Argleton, that is, a small town with small tropical tones and a relaxed atmosphere.
About the graphic part, this is the one that has taken the most hours of work. During this week, the focus has been Prim and Maxy, for both girls have been remastered more than 500 new renders, some updating some graphics that were outdated, because before I didn't have a good computer to make good graphics. I also wanted to respect as much as possible, the compositions and structures of the original images, as I don't want it to feel like a very abrupt change. However, the inclusion of Prim's work uniform or the rewriting of some events, have inevitably provoked a more relevant change.
Here is an example of Maxy and Prim, the difference is notorious, but without affecting the game's plot.
Many repeatable event images have also been remade, as I feel the old ones were unattractive. These images have corresponding variations with each of the new outfits.
Here we can see the difference when going with Prim to the beach. The beach event is now unlocked during the first few minutes of gameplay and will help us earn love points with Prim (Up to a maximum of 20).
The rest are remastered renders are old images, only the graphics have been improved, not only in terms of colour, but in terms of resolution and textures. In addition, I have been doing a small optimization, to further reduce the weight of the game.
Two animations in Maxy's story have also been remastered. And regarding the animations, I have been studying a lot about this issue lately, since I have received some comments about problems with some animations or fps drops. Apparently, it seems to be a problem with the codecs and how Renpy processes them, however, I think I have managed to come up with a solution, however, this may result in a slight increase in the size of the game. I hope to be able to balance the increase in size of the animations, with the decrease in size of the images.
