Murisan Family Vlogs

Yes its saved in my playlist I think I clicked in the first hour it came out. Most likely it would fall on a Thursday of a Friday.

Aigooo rewatching Namjoonie and his lives always have a special place in my heart. Often they are catalysts for a mini introspection and inner MOT too. They always feel like they offer a hope too. When I think of when Always came out… it was a shock to the system because it was clear that Namjoon had had some really dark difficult feelings, (trigger warning for the lyrics for anyone not familiar with Always and it’s lyrics etc.) So at the time to hear Namjoon say in this live that he didn’t feel that way anymore was a massive relief. When I see new ARMY say they wish they could have gone back in time to be there from the start etc… Personally I wouldn’t wish to go back to those years… some years were really painful for what the boys went through. There was always one thing or another… 2016 in particular was such a difficult year to be ARMY… yes there were the highs of the first Daesangs at the end of it… but there were so many dark moments. I won’t rehash some of what the boys faced but I touched on some of the ones Tae faced in a previous 2016 live of his. Namjoon in particular here was addressing some of the truly tough times he himself had faced in 2015/2016 too from quite a few unfair controversies from lyrics to other things… The boys were still very much considered underdogs during this time… it started to change after the daesang wins at the end of 2016, but even then after it other fandoms were instigating serious hate campaigns and trying to undermine the wins etc… sns was vicious… because I think anti’s could tell that tides had started to change and that the boys were the hottest thing… they seemed to be desperate in trying to make anything stick. 2017 would go on to be a huge monumental year that changed everything… the year of Spring Day (feb of 2017) Not Today, DNA, Mic Drop etc. Another very interesting thing side note that won’t immediately jump out to non-Koreans or those who don’t follow Korean politics… is the climate and context of this live culturally… esp when Namjoon touches upon it and mentions it when he was talking of his friends who had had a very tough time in the past year… from graduation, to leaving the military etc and when Namjoon said his friends had said it’s a luxury to have hope etc… he was talking about the political climate of South Korea at the time. It was after a seriously bleak period for the country and ordinary people, where unemployment for the young was super high, there were also a lot of political corruption scandals in the govt and all the impeachment marches too… (the boys had released Am I wrong just a few months before in Oct 2016, their most political song where they referenced and criticised a minister’s saying who had said 90% of the Korean public were like dogs and pigs and he had suggested a caste system) and risked getting banned when they preformed it (k-army was so worried at the time)) Park Gun Hye had finally just been voted to be impeached in the Dec (she was the one who also mismanaged the Sewol ferry disaster… and had serious corruption charges against her) and when Namjoon did this live every thing was still in the air… there was a lot of optimism that things were changing but also a lot pf uncertainty… the decision wasn’t upheld by the Supreme Court till the March of 2017, and it wasn’t until May that year that elections were held and the new left democratic govt came in (politically BTS and their ideology was matched with the new govt. Moon Jae In was also the president that gave BTS their diplomatic passports and the special envoy position. He went out of power in 2022 and the right wing came into power again. I’m very much of the opinion that if the left were still in power the boys would have very much got their military exemption. As those who came into power in 2022 were from the same part of the political system that the boys had critiqued in their music in 2016. ) Anyways as always I’m getting side tracked and leaving a super long comment but there is always so much to the boys lives etc depending what year it’s from… wether culturally or contextually. What always never fails to amaze me though is the strength of character of Namjoon and the boys. To have faced so much unfair but come through it all… and be such decent kind human beings who care about others and the world. It really feels like Mic Drop released in the latter half of 2017 was the perfect track for the haters and anti’s etc. 💜
