According to their comeback live, just like Circles was for Wonwoo, Woozi wrote Yawn with Seungkwan in mind. And he sent the track to Seungkwan who was on his time-off after the sad incident at that time. Seungkwan listened to it in the car and immediately cried😭 he then texted Woozi, “ why are you making me cry when I am on a break?!!” Woozi is the most talented producer but also most caring friend one could ever have😭😭😭

I love how this entire album was dedicated to Carats. All the lyrics are so well written but especially with Yawn and knowing the meaning behind it is just so heartbreaking. Any time Woozi is the sole lyricist on a song, we know its going to be beautiful. I read a comment somewhere that when they refer to a yawn ('hapeum' in Korean) in the song, Woozi is actually referring to pain ('apeum' in Korean). You can think of it as a comparison like this: yawning is caused by a lack of oxygen or shortness of breath similar to how one can lose their reason for breathing from being in pain after losing a loved one. Also, don't worry too much about being too raw in the reactions, I appreciate hearing your experiences and I think its nice that you can find some relatable-ness in these songs with what you're going through, it hits harder in a sense!

I think there can be multiple interpretations of yawn. The first is from Seungkwan perspective about what happened. I think it could also be from both Seungkwan’s perspective in (in the first chorus) and from the members perspective of the incident and Seungkwan’s following hiatus in the second chorus. The first chorus goes “Don’t hate yourself, you know it was a good choice” sounds like it’s Seungkwan talking to both his friend and himself. The second chorus which is the same sounds like the members are reassuring Seungkwan about his decision to go on hiatus. I think the members song definitely has multiple interpretations though and all of them are valid.

I can relate to what both of you are saying. I was in a very dark stages of my life and I ended up cutting my family out of it just to be okay. I wasn’t able to talk to anyone about my issue up until recently. And only talked to a handful of relatives still cut off many of them. My friends and coworkers that I’m close too was shocked to hear that I went through all that when to them I’m the brightest, sweetest, happiest, no care in the world they’ve ever met. But I was in a place that I had to choose to live the life I wanted or to end it cause I can’t go against my elders! I couldn’t look at things and not think of ways to end myself. I’m in a better mindset now. It was hard to talk to anyone about it when you’re actually in it.

BTW, please react to GOM on MNET. A comeback that felt like a Seventeen’s concert. https://youtu.be/IYINQYj4Br8?si=GDCT_YcaMwRJLntX

I really love this album and the message it portrays and everyone has their own take on it. Seventeen always finds a way to make you ‚feel‘ even if you don’t want to. And thank you to both of you for opening up and talking about your own struggles. I have thyroid issues and been taking pills for years so I understand how you feel. Haven’t slept properly for 1,5 years now bc of anxiety caused by stress that’s also affected by hormones and it gets hard sometimes bc it’s like a circle that never stops. You’re involuntarily isolating yourself and then it just becomes normal. I don’t want to project my mood on someone else so I just keep it to myself. I‘m so thankful for the music they make. Carats joke about Fighting and changed the lyrics to „Don’t k*ll yourself, we’re BSS“ because no matter how you feel that song will lift your mood even if it’s just a little. There’s a song for every emotion you’re feeling and sometimes it’s like you’re listening to your own thoughts without having to say it out loud. I love Seventeen for that.

I think the reason why Seventeenlyrics usually do not make videos for title tracks is because 1. the MV already have the lyrics 2. so that people could watch the mv for lyrics which would then help with streaming/views I could be wrong but that’s just why I think so haha Diamond Days actually sampled their pre-debut song Shining Diamonds which you should definitely check out. Even the lyrics were referenced from Shining Diamonds. I actually teared up listening to Diamond Days when I recognised the exact same lyrics that were used 🥲 Also “Days” which Josh said he heard more than just Coups was actually really just Coups and Bumzu! Scoups said it on weverse himself and it really amazed me what how full it sounded for just 2 people. For Yawn, after finishing the song, Woozi sent it personally to Seungkwan when he was on his break. It’s like telling Seungkwan how he shouldn’t be blaming himself for taking that break for himself and that Woozi (as well as the members) know how much he is suffering alone. Carat-tip: if you see a song that has lyrics solely by Woozi, it’s gna be the most beautiful song ever. For Headliner, the members were saying that for all their concerts/shows they may be Carats headliner of the night but to them Carats are their Headliner as those times are when they get to see us Carats. The love between Seventeen and Carats is so mutual I love this relationship 🥹 When you check out more Seventeen albums, you’ll find out that a lot of their songs are for Carats or for the members themselves which made me love them so much more! Love the reaction and lyrics breakdown! Thank you so much <3

I was really surprised by SOS lyrics, meaning and how they put it on this sound, gives me such a bittersweat moment… I love Yawn so much, everyone talks about lyrics but i really love the sound and instruments, especially the bridge… it feels like an OST to great beautiful historical/romantic kdrama

Yawn hits hard when they told us that Woozi sent it to seungkwan during his hiatus after he finished writing it & how seungkwan cried after listening to it. It's like Woozi captured the words Seungkwan wants to say to Binnie 🥺
