This episode was slower because they're starting to show us their past and how it influence the present. The Scarface/Scarneck is after the same thing that the king is and he is not on the king side is on the side of the Grand Queen brother. And Cait you'll find out on the next episode why the Queen told Jo Hwa Jin she was the fake Kim So Yong. The kiss in the end was because the king needed an excuse to be there at the Queens quarters, and for me personally it was so satisfying to see the cousin see them kiss because I can't stand him with is obsession with the Queen.

Lol it's getting so messy in the kingdom right now with the love square 🥴 that's crazy you thought this ep was a little more slow then ep 7 lol I thought 7 was kinda boring cause she was unconscious the whole time 😂 nooo but her bombastic side eyes in this ep were killing me 💀 lowkey beefing in front of pops was hilarious. That kiss at the end was because the cousin and the guards heard the pot break and would think the king tried to hurt the queen. So kissing her was a distraction lol PS - yeah the phoenix hairpin is only for the queen, so Hwa jin is being disrespectful.

1. There was a reference that Josh replayed but idk if you caught it since it's a reference from a classic Kdrama called Temptation Wife. It's a love affair/infidelity genre of drama. 2. The scarneck man isn't on King's side or the Queen's father side, he's on Kim Jwa Geun's side (uncle of Queen). Scarneck was sent there to check on King because Jwa Geun think the King is there to look for the ledger where all their corrupt work was listed.
