Monkey Business in Gravesfield 7 - or ‘A Tale of a Saiyan, a Basilisk, and a Human’ (Post-DBZ Xenoverse x Pre-Finale The Owl House, Saiyan!OC)
Trusting in Vee was not not supposed to actually bring me to another dimension, but here I was, going through a door-shaped portal into a completely different environment.
Many wouldn’t pick up the difference because they can’t sense people as well as I could nowadays but… but this reminded me of the feeling Toki Toki City used to give me- yet less concentrated and more spread out in terms of ‘energy user per area’.
The ‘Boiling Isles’ were named as such due to the peculiar rain that was almost acidic with how hot the droplets were. Luckily for me, the rain was easy to predict and none was expected to come for a solid month.
Thus, I didn’t have much to worry about as I got Chibiron through the portal beyond-
“Is this really necessary?” I asked the girl as I patted the hat I had to wear. I am not sure why I had to hide away my ears, but the blonde sure made it clear that it was necessary.
“Just trust me,” Vee firmly remarked, once again leaving me in the dark about this vital piece of info as I could tell it was a big thing. “You will see soon.”
So, beyond the hat, I also had to limit my ki. I could understand this other restriction since she reacted to it, so I guess others on this other dimension could do so too. Well, not everyone, but enough to cause a mess.
Since no one spotted me or raised any look at us, I had a feeling I had dropped down enough to not be noticed. Good, but that was just ‘Step 0’ of this trip. As we arrived at our destination, I had the chance to ‘see’ why I had to cover my ears: ‘Witches’, a term used for both males and females in this realm, had pointy ears.
So, my human round ears would be a dead giveaway I was one, while Vee was… Well, she said something about ‘being known’ and thus ‘unneeding of that’. The place itself we were now checking looked to be quite close to the forest, but had been ‘carved’ into some sort of workshop.
Spiky platinum blond hair, a few scars on his face, red eyes and quite the jovial expression on his face. I just had this feeling he was quite the trustworthy fellow.
“I suppose you’re Jay. I am Hunter.”
“Nice to meet you, Hunter,” I greeted back and shook hands with the kind-looking guy. “And this here is the patient of today, Chibiron.”
Hunter appeared surprised to see the Palisman, “Impressive. We had estimated your Palisman would have taken a while to get out of his egg since… Well, he wasn’t reacting while under our care.”
“I suppose it’s a surprise but- did Vee tell you about me?”
“Only that you look human but you are not,” The Palisman-Carver answered swiftly, but then frowned a bit. “Right?”
“That’s one way to put it, yes,” I agreed, glancing at Vee as the girl was conveniently looking away at that moment. “Still, it doesn’t cause you any issue, right?”
“Not at all,” Hunter assured with a smile. “But we have a pair of clients now so I will have to split the attention between you and them.”
“I don’t mind,” I answered confidently. “Chibiron is well right now, so there’s no need to treat this with too much concern.”
The reassurance was met with a relieved grin and the young man took us ‘inside the wood workshop’. The place had other palismans, I could sense this much through the power being similar to Chibiron’s own pattern.
As we entered the ‘checkroom’, I could see Vee tense up as the ‘pair of clients’ was made by two girls she knew about. And I recognized one of them on the spot as she was playing with a purple snake-otter-thingy palisman.
“So, I suppose introductions are in order so we avoid any confusion?” Hunter offered, noticing Vee’s sudden unease, but seeing the girl nod nonetheless. “Well, Amity and Luz, these here are Vee and Jay, they are-”
“You!”
The sudden exclamation erupting from the latina girl caught many by surprise, but not me as I smiled smugly as I saw her retrieve a small rectangular case.
“Well, well, well, my rival.”
“Jay, of course you are… Wait, why are you here?” Luz asked, and I shrugged.
“My palisman. Kind of got it recently.”
“That’s awesome!”
“Hold on,” The girl beside Luz, the purple-haired pale-skinned girl with yellow eyes, interceded. “You know each other?”
“Well yeah. Luz and I are rivals… in a card game.”
“The best card game!” Luz corrected. “Yu-gi-oh is the game I showed you a few months ago, the one that I have lots of good decks of.”
The witch girl nodded in realization. “The one about summoning monsters and using cards for spells and traps?”
“Yup. Jay and I are eternal rival-”
“That used to play once every few weeks if she wasn’t busy going through detention,” I interjected quietly. “So, this is where you went. How are you?”
“Doing fine! This is my girlfriend, Amity,” Luz introduced. “And Amity, this is-”
“Your eternal rival in Yu-gi-oh, I think I got it already, dear.”
Luz actually appeared flustered at that remark, but I took this chance to interact with Amity.
“It’s still nice to meet you, Amity. Understand I mean it when I say… Thank you for being close with Luz. She has a tendency to try and sound tough, but she needs someone to hold her up.”
“She does,” The witch agreed with a delighted smile. “Still, if I may ask… what are you?”
Well, that was abrupt but-
“Yeah, Jay, you feel weird. Like, you have a lot held inside- lots of energy.”
Then Luz appeared more abrupt with that continuation.
“Well, I got through a big journey-”
“Same-”
“I made many friends, enemies and teachers-”
Luz nodded, “Yup.”
“And I kind of got back to the normal stuff.”
“I bet you have a lot to say but… no need to rush it,” Luz assured, and we paused for a moment as Hunter quietly retrieved Chibiron from my hold so he could visit him beside the girls’ Palismans.
As that interruption finished, I saw Luz’s eyes twinkle with a degree of childish curiosity.
“So… you got some cool transformation?” Luz asked, frowning knowingly and I offered a smile.
“Maybe. Do you?”
“Duh! I bet mine’s cooler though!”
“Show me, then!”

To Vee and Amity, it was like seeing two kids showing off toys as the four teens took this scene outdoors.
If before there were hints and clues of a potential disaster due to their ‘rivalry’, now the Witch and the Basilisk stood beside one another and… both had curious thoughts on the matter.
“I am not sure if I should be happy or not that these two are this friendly,” Amity hummed out loud, drawing a lengthy sigh. “On the one hand, I know they are not going to do anything ‘intimate’, but I have this feeling things will get silly very quickly.”
“Hm,” Vee muttered quietly, really unsure of how to explain the situation.
After all, she had thought a disguise was needed to avoid them to know Jay was not a human and thus ‘dangerous’ due to his power but… Well, she forgot that Luz was just like that, and Amity tended to follow closely to her girlfriend’s mindset in regard to this.
Nonetheless, the basilisk was curious, and this situation shed some light on Jay’s own unique nature. She had tried to make sense of it up until this point, imagining what sort of power Jay had to match Luz’s own abilities.
Luz could rely on her ‘Titan’ form. It wasn’t something she could tap frequently without running out of energy fast but- as time had gone by, the latina girl had gotten good enough with it to hold it for far longer than she did when she faced Belos.
With a snap of fingers, a dark-violet bubble manifested around Luz, allowing her form to shift into the one she called her ‘favorite anime transformation’. The girl's eyes were now golden yellow with black sclera, her long hair was ruffled up as some fur and darker skin connotations spread over her witchy outfits.
Jay appeared impressed but… soon the air changed. The density of Luz’s energy was less spread out compared to Jay. As soon as he let go of his restraint and golden particles started to erupt from his previously white ‘aura’, Vee felt baffled by what she could tell was actually ‘the tip of the iceberg’.
His body was coated in gold energy, but the changes were limited. His hair got spikier and some locks were lifted up before shifting from black to blonde. His eyes went from dark charcoal into fiery blue.
By the time he was done, both were staring at each other in awe, with both Amity and Vee intrigued by this ‘meeting’ that felt unusual for sure but-
“That looks very cool, Luz,” Jay praised, recovering first from that ‘challenge’ of theirs. “It’s very well-crafted and… truth be told, I bet you could get even stronger with some training.”
“Yeah, I have been thinking that,” The girl agreed. “But I got school, and I don’t want to ruin the shaky schedule I have but… Jay, yours is cool too. Simpler, but also effective.”
“Thanks.”
That was it. Vee just couldn’t grasp her thought on it. They didn’t ask each other how the transformations came to be, they didn’t ask what form of energy they used- they just showed their transformations to each other and… that was it.
The basilisk was left a bit baffled, and she was sure Amity would have pressed on it if not for a rather adorable situation.
“So, we are done checking on Stringbean, Ghost and Chibiron, and I can say they are… Well, close.”
The term was perfect to describe how the slightly bigger draconic Palisman was currently wrapped around both the purring white-furred Palisman of Amity and Luz’s Stringbean.
Without hesitation, the owners of these three took out their phones/scrolls and took pictures of the cute scene. Vee was a bit upset about not getting more info on Jay but…
This was still progress. And the distraction was cute enough to mellow her sad mood a tiny bit.

First contact was made, Jay and Luz are that kind of ‘distant friends’ that, when together, do share a single brain cell. Not in the ‘dumb’ kind of way, but more like they are not very ‘thorough’ with their planning when it comes to interactions with each other.
Also, in relation to Jay and Luz’s ‘rivalry’, Jay runs Blue-eyes White Dragon and Luz has Dark Magician Deck. Yes, they are cheesy, they know it, and they are fine with it.
