I honestly still see Hitchens as one of the key journalists in bringing American imperialism to the forefront in the late 20th century, at least for someone like me who appreciated his early views of atheism and Christianity in particular. I’m part indigenous and frankly do feel the left is way to skittish on dealing with religions role in society, and nothing has cemented that feeing more than the child graves uncovered in Canada. Reading his previous work was eye opening and I’ll be honest, I still hold Hitch in high regard. Even though he subsequently ruined his legacy in the 21st century.
