It's the last Update Blog of the year (and coincidentally the final day of the year as well), and I'll be ending 2022 on a pretty low note. No, it's nothing to do with my videos, it's because I was sick with a cold. Thankfully, I'm getting better as you're reading this and it should be over in a few days, but it still sucks feeling stuffed up and coughing out your lungs instead of fully embracing the holidays. This is why I didn't do a whole lot of work this week (that and, of course, the holidays), but I still did what I can to get myself back to normal and to get the ball rolling again for next year. So here's what I did when I"m not blowing my nose or coughing like an old man.

- Released the Top 5 Best & Worst Animated Films of 2022: I think I could say that this was one of my best Top 5 Best & Worst videos yet! I love how there is that unpredictable edge to this one where the lists are not always easy to guess which movie will show up (especially with the first tie in the #1 Worst), and create a good comical intro to perfectly sum up 2022. I will say that a handful of movies were obvious in their placements, but what really changed the game for the lists are the last animated films released this year, where Puss in Boots and Rodrick Rules found a way to unexpectedly slip into the best and the worst respectively. That's why I knew I have to keep the list open and easy to switch around in case of last-minute additions and changes. Anyways, I'm glad I"m able to cap off the year with a strong video like this one. Hopefully, it will help set a new standard for what's to come in 2023.

- Writing Part 4 of Animation Lookback: The Muppets: Admittedly, there wasn't a whole lot of work that was done throughout the week because of spending time with friends and family during the holidays and trying to take care of myself while I'm sick. But as my health is slowly improving, I also slowly got back into the groove of working, which in this case is to write the script for Part 4. It's actually a great project to help me get back in an easy way. It only requires me to not do anything too big or complex and take my time to properly get my script in order and properly research to get my facts right and use the most interesting parts to tell my story. So far, I'd say that I got most of it done and all it needs is a bit more writing and a revision or 2 to consider that complete until I pass it over to my fact checkers and move on to the recording...or wait until I"m fully better to record again. Either way, the script is looking great on this one.

- What's Coming in 2023: Tomorrow, I'll be making an announcement about what's to come for my channel in 2023, which will include some changes both on YouTube and here. As you are my patrons, I think it's fair that you all get to know first about what's to come in the next year from me. I'll go into details when I'll make the public announcement, but the summary of it is that there will be, on YouTube, more variety of videos that will come, meaning less reviews clogging my schedule and more AniMat Watches, AL: The Muppets, History videos, Top 10s and more, and more YouTube Shorts that will be uploaded 3 times a week (one Animation Fact, one clip  from the latest video, and one older TikTok video that's not on YouTube yet). As for Patreon, on the Special Executive Producer tier, the max amount fo episodes for a review request will go down to 32. However, for the Supervising Animator tier and up, the wait time to get an art commision will go down from 4 to 3 months. These will all take effect starting tomorrow. If you have any questions, feel free to message me and I'll get back to you when I can.

So that's been my holiday week that turned into a sick week. I'm hoping to fully get out of this soon. Might as well get this bad feeling out of the way so that I can have a fresh start for 2023. Will this be a better year or will this end up being more chaotic than last time? Who the fridge knows? But I'm ready for it! So, until next year...

See ya later, dudes!

Wow, cold/flu season seemed pretty rampant this December. My whole family was caught with it. Several of my online friends reported the same. Yet somehow, I never got fully dosed myself. The most I ever got was a slight runny nose... that's it! You could say I have an immune system the strength of Hercules XD But anyway, get well soon Mat, and I wish you and your loved ones a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

2022 has been exemplary of how far you’ve evolved as a content creator, film reviewer, and animation historian. Learning from your past mistakes, while having fun along the way! May new opportunities await you in 2023, Mat! We’ll be here for them!

Redbandit

I think it was honestly pretty obvious which movies were going to be No.1 in both categories just saying

Hopefully, everything will be a lot better next year. With the track record, though… Anyway, Happy New Year, dude!
