A Disney live-action remake that I did not wish for

It was average at best, forgettable at worst. No argument here. I will always adore the Disney animated classic. Still better than the Pauly Shore version and that idiotic Miramax version beforehand. Best to wait for the Del Toro stop-motion film.

I absolutely hate this movie, the original Pinocchio is one of my favorite Disney animated films and easily one of Disney’s most important films, I mean this is the movie that gave us “When You Wish Upon A Star” which is basically the anthem of Disney with how you always hear the song when you watch a Disney movie and you see that Disney logo with the castle, and with this remake it is honestly an absolute disgrace, while it does have the same story as the original it feels so rushed to the point where you can’t get invested, while I do think some of the visuals look nice like with some of the backgrounds, the CGI is absolutely horrible and just looks uncanny, with the acceptation of Pinocchio himself who actually doesn’t look too bad, and while I do think the actors are trying, it’s just the material they are given are so bad that it just holds them back, also I will give it credit that I do like the score including the new version of “When You Wish Upon A Star”. Overall the 2022 remake of Pinocchio is an absolute disgrace to the original and is inferior to the original masterpiece in every way and even though it was only put onto Disney+ it’s just worth it to just watch the original since it’s on there as well, if anything it just gets me more excited for Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio coming later this year. Also I have to 100% agree with you AniMat, I would honestly much rather watch Pinocchio A True Story than watch this, yes while that one could be considered worse, at least can actually get some unintentional laughs out of it, at least I can laugh at how dumb and stupid it is, at least I can laugh at Pauly Shore's hilariously bad acting, and at least I can laugh at the memes this movie has spawned. Honestly, I think the only memorable thing that will probably come out of the 2022 Pinocchio remake is that it gives the internet an excuse to bring back the Pinocchio A True Story memes because and have people basically manipulate Pinocchio through the power of editing to have him say the Pauly Shore lines.

This remake definitely suck. Just by the start off of seeing the realistic version of Jiminy Cricket appear out of the now considered old Disney thanks to it new update one for next year for it 100th anniversary, you can bet you be in for a doozy ride. From looking at this remake alone after watching it, it looked bad with it rush pacing, bland story, poor writing, some of the actors like Cynthia Erivo being wasted, terrible visuals, some updates ones that make things worst, bad new songs especially the tango song, terrible jokes like the Chris Pine joke which is poor timing given the ongoing drama go on with Don’t Worry Darling, lacking charm from the characters, and Zemeckis’s direction is what I think the worst part of this movie where everything looked like it tries to have this ImageMovers like movie where everything has to be roller coasters ride, trying too hard to be realistic, and even at times feels like a motion capture animated film from how the characters interact. It a shame if what Zemeckis has become because after Cast Away, he went absolutely downhill from there ever since he became obsessed with the visuals with the visuals from the motion capture films and his later works like Welcome to Marwin and the 2020 version of The Witches. He is now more of a stylized director where he cares more about the visuals than storytelling. The only positive I can say is that some actors like Tom Hanks and Luke Evans were doing fine, good production designs, okay updated old songs, and at times that the cinematography whenever it in focus can look good too. Overall, I would say it one of the worst Disney remakes I seen in the levels of Maleficent movies and the Lion King so I would definitely not checking this remake again and stick with the animated classic. Since this is the year of Pinocchio, let pray to have the Guillermo Del Toro’s version to come out real soon so we can wash our eyes off from it or go back watching Pauly Shore’s Pinocchio again despite being worst except it more of a so bad it good type movie so you can watch it again to laugh the mockery out of it.

You said it, this movie tries to hard, in terms of leeching off of the original 1940 classic. I think the 2019 version with Federico Ielapi is better. But they won't be stopping with all those adaptations of public domain works any time soon.

Well with me I say it's Okay.. Not ain’t like the 40s film but it’s a step up from Dumbo and more creative then the Lion King But nowhere near the levels either Christopher Robin, Mary Poppins, or the Jungle Book. Like I would say all the actors were great, Especially Keegan and Hanks, which I think the over the top is really on par with Keegan previous works, additions like Fabiana is cute as a disable dancer who can achieve her dream with puppeteering and Pinocchio and Jiminy still feel true to their characters. But I will agree YES it weak! With some animations that can seem a little weird in some moments, scenes that go too fast with it's pacing, characters having some changes that seem questionable to even be in as they are like the Coachman and Monstro, and new fun songs that are unfinished or seem rather out of place, Which it's just too bad cause I love the score and Fabriana's song is like a tribute to all sort of Dances. Admit I've seen worse but I would lie to say I didn't like it, I could only wished it could be better but alas there a lot to be desired.

I can’t say that I hated this movie like other people, but at the same time, I do agree that there really is no point to it, and most people are better off with the original. BTW, I’m still waiting for a Sharktopus reference! Seriously, look that thing up, and you’ll see what I mean and why I keep connecting it to this movie

I think that 4/10 final rating may have been a bit too generous for a remake this shameless and manufactured off an assembly line.

the magical tear cliché. It has been done before Pokémon

My default statement will always be, if its not baroque don't fix it.

Believe it or not, the Miramax version is a guilty pleasure of mine. But at least Roberto Benigni did redeem that version with the 2019 film adaptation, even if he didn’t direct and only starred as Gepetto.
