Hey Patrons,

SPORTS! Love em or hate em, they make some damn good video games, and this is one of the very best. In our documentary on NHL 94 (the 30th Anniversary no less) we dive into early 90s sports game design that largely dictated the next three decades of development.

With insight from the original programmer, producer & tester, along with some context from the NHL 24' creative leads, and some footage of yours truly trying to play hockey at our local rink (shout out to Snoopy's Home Ice in Santa Rosa) this one covers a lot of ground.

If you like hearing about 90s game history, and the specific challenges of designing sports games - there is bunches of great insight in here.

Massive thanks to Jeremy for taking the lead on the edit. We're gonna try get this one up for Thanksgiving so please enjoy your early access window. I think the only thing to add here is I forgot to put the Greatest Hits intro in!

Return to Monkey Island coming to Early Access soon too.

Let us know what you think of the doc!

Just a very interesting story about game development back then, no matter that it's about a sports game. Well done. Two small things I noticed. I think the audio from Danny when he's interviewing is a bit low compared to the interviewees. And on the parts title cards the spacing between Part and the number is a bit too narrow I think. My brain read Patreon for a second instead of Part One before I realised what it said, but that could also be me being very tired 😅

When can we expect a full highlight reel of Danny eating shit in ice skates?
