Hey Patrons,

Many of you may not have played this game (our demographic is a bit older, no offence, you're all beautiful) but I think this is a fascinating story about how to get eyes on your art and handle player expectation.

I first interviewed Gavin on the podcast back in late 2021 and knew there was an interesting story here so I was delighted when he was happy for me to interview him and his father and about the remarkable story of Choo Choo Charles.

The documentary dives into design, but also explores how Gavin worked to make it go viral, the work that went into promoting it with streamers, and what it's like to have your dad be mad at IGN for a shitty review score.

Awesome job by Jeremy on the initial edit as ever, the dude is a workhorse. He's currently working on Immortality while I do Dwarf Fortress and Vampire Survivors.

This one is going out next week so I'd love any feedback you have on it.

Danny

PS: Mount Olympus is pretty. It's great to be traveling again.

Fantastic work guys! Can't believe that IGN gave Choo Choo a 4. I know it's all subjective and that it's different reviewers in different contexts, but IGN gave Sonic 06 a 4.8. Feels like the scale is all over the place. Again, loved the doc, though; it's always interesting to see how indie devs made their breakthrough games.

Interesting game, doubt I'll play it ever, but it's so fun to be exposed to other sides of the games world.
