Hey Patrons!

A lot's been going on behind the scenes so it's time to fill you in on some of a bunch of it. In this patron update I talk about our GDC plans, a difficult January, our upcoming doc series, some interesting partnerships, and our plans for PAX East.

Plus, it's Q&A time! If you have questions, please put them in the comments below!

I'll ask the same Q I always do! Since in the past you've strongly defended the need to preserve digital media (games that banish from online stores etc) and now you're a part of that digital OC creation, how do you feel about people ripping the NoClip videos from YouTube and storing them, since theoretically (though improbable) access to YouTube could vanish at any minute

Bavo Debraekeleer

Oh, the GDC sessions sound awesome! 5min is SUPER short though. I hope there'll be extended cuts of those! xD

Will you be looking into the Legacy of Kain franchise?

Bavo Debraekeleer

Question for the Q&A: Any chance of you doing some random game playing on Twitch again? Or is it O'Carina till the end first?

Christopher Metzger

For Q&A: How much of a voice do you think Noclip should / will have independent from that of the subjects interviewed? Or put another way, do you ever foresee a situation where the narrative of one of your documentaries does not align with what an interviewee puts forth? Thanks as always for the quality videos, I'm on tenterhooks for Project 3!

Hi, Danny. Loved the Romero profile and the behind the scenes of his stupendous collection of gaming history. I was wondering, for the coming GDC sessions, whether we would be seeing extended cuts of the conversations or whether that would be too much crazy all at once given all the other projects you've got planned.

B&L

Thanks for the update Danny! Looking forward to possibly recording something for you and project 3.

Hey, not a Q, just wanted to let you know I have not received notifications from twitch for the last two streams :(

Question for Q&A: How do you feel about physical vs. digital games? From the segment where you looked at John Romero's collection of games and collectibles from his career it appeared like you have an affinity for the collectible nature of games. Do you prefer one format over the other?

noclip

Really? That's weird. I've not changed anything on there. Let me look into it!

i can't believe you shaved the beard off dude - it was a good look! can understand how it can feel like it's strangling you though - get the same way with mine when i've been working like crazy and haven't shaved for weeks

japan... Could it be...

Bryan Deijnum

Hey Danny loving the videos! What was the most amazing/ exciting part for you interviewing a gaming legend like John Romero? And as a fellow Doom fan, were you nervous at all?

Jackson Roye

Danny, I'm loving your videos thus far! What would you do if patronage jumped up $10,000 a month? What's your pie in the sky idea for NoClip? Move into a proper studio space? Hire more people on a part-time or full-time basis? Soft serve ice cream machine in your living room? Keep up the great work!

Q&A Question: What is your typical morning/daily routine? How do you keep yourself motivated and organized now that you are your own boss? Loving the content, Danny. Keep it up and you will always have people like me who want to see quality in-depth content on the gaming world.

Grant Glibert

Question: do you have some favorite or memorable moments from a gdc conference or experience. That Kojima one I loved because it's really about problem solving wrapped up in a metal gear analogy. Applause for the update video keep up the great work my friend.

One suggestion: don't shave the beard! It looks all rugged and shit. :D Continued good luck to you, mate. Excited about the potential of whatever comes out of Japan. もっと動画欲しいな!Also would love to see you do some coverage of MADE on its own merits. Would be super cool.

Evan King

Once everything is settled in and NoClip is being made at a steady pace with few setbacks and possibly even more patreon support, what is your ideal release schedule? Once doc each month? One every six- eight weeks? Forgive me if this is already answered elsewhere.

Nick Grugin

Bummed you weren't at PAX South man, it was a blast it is the "mellow PAX" Ok so question, are you gonna have somebody there to record the PAX East panel if not video of it, at least audio of it for us Patreon backers ? :)

Colby Perry

Do you feel like Noclip is pushing the rest of the gaming journalism industry to produce more in-depth pieces?

Tory Thompson

I love that you have these idea's that are different in format to the RL and Doom project's; is your plan to keep changing and pushing your own format into different way's or are the different styles (i.e. Profiles) just one-time deals that are designed for that specific story?

Q: what do you look forward to seing in Japan? :)

Brandon K Gann

Hey Mr. O'Dwyer! After watching the behind the scenes look at Mr. Romero's "vault" of history, I wanted to know what was the coolest collection of gaming memorabilia (It does not have to include games, but is gaming related) that you have ever seen in person? Thanks for taking my question if you do and have a great day!

Anonymous

Q: Ever considered renting a desk somewhere in the city so that you can get out of the house more?

Anonymous

Question that I posted sometime back on the community tab: - any chance on doing a documentary on remakes of classic franchises like Fallout or Xcom? Not sure if this ties to the retro games thing you mentioned. I reckon it'll be good to see how studios decide what the keep and what the update for bringing back great classics.

Harribo

Hey Danny, my question is has not having to keep up with current videogames now your independent been wierd? And what have you been playing?

Stuart parker

Question. Hi Danny I think you should do a no clip on your naked and gunless playthrough or another you did? Would u ever consider that? Ps keep up the great work

Tyler Steben

Hi Danny--you mentioned some nervousness around how you felt people would react to the Romero interview. Wanted you to know that I thought it was awesome and it prompted me to join the ranks of paying members. It's a great interview and the Galway angle was fresh and interesting. Thanks for producing great material--happy to be on the inside and supporting you.
